Gorfan

Upon reading the scroll, Gorfan knew indeed that Lady d'Cannith was once again in need of their services.

The cleric knew from his companions expressions that they had the same general idea as he...to the Broken Anvil post haste.

After leading Alo and Soryn to the Broken Anvil, where they had been some days hence, Gorfan, notices the Lady seated near the fire which is smoking and flickering with the remnants of embers from the night before. Gazing upon her visage the cleric could ascertain that something was most certainly amiss...hence the letter's urgency.

"Greetings m'lady," Gorfan says as he arrives with his companions at her table..." what is amiss?"

The Broken Anvil Tavern

The Broken Anvil is reached without incident. Inside, everbright lanterns at either end of the room provide flickering illumination. A round table is set to either side of the entrance, and three longer tables are scattered about the room.

Today, the Broken Anvil has only one customer, a woman in a worn brown cloak. She sits at a table at the far end of the room. As you enter, she raises her hand as if to cast a spell, then stops and pulls back her hood. Despite her disheveled hair and the dirt that covers her face, your recognize her. She is Lady Elaydren d'Cannith, the woman who hired you to explore the depths of sharn.

Before, she wore expensive jewelry, and fine glammerweave clothing. Today, she wears a mud-splattered traveller's outfit. You notice she isn't even wearing her signet ring.

The inkeeper comes out to greet you upon hearing you enter, but with a wave of her hand, the Lady dismisses her, and calls you over to the table.

"Quickly! Quickly!" she calls in a strained voice. "Thank Olladra that you're here. There is no time to waste."

The lady lifts a leather backpack off the floor and places it on the table. The leather is worn, but the brass buckles still shine. It appears light, almost empty. "There is no time to explain." Lady Elaydren says, her fear-filled eyes dart towards the door and back to you again. "Instructions, gold, and supplies are in this pack. Take it and go. The letter in the left-hand pocket explains everything, but you must go now! Trust me. If you can accomplish this task, the rewards will be vast."

Gorfan

Gorfan, noticing the fear within Lady d'Cannith's eyes, knew indeed that something was seriously amiss. Taking the backpack off the table, the cleric says,"No fear m'lady, whatever urgent errand that needs doing, we shall do it..."

With that, the dwarf hefted pack onto his left shoulder and began to turn towards the door.

Broken Anvil Tavern

As soon as the dwarf takes the pack, the door opens, and a well-armed warforged comes into the tavern. As soon as he steps through the door, his eyes fixate on Lady Elaydren, and he advances towards her.

Gorfan

Upon seeing the warforged enter the inn, Gorfan was immediately on guard. This was of no surprise to the cleric due to the in-danger Lady's reservations on what their mission is. One hand strayed to his warhammer...he gripped it with his right hand and moved to intervene in the warforged's advance towards the Lady d'Cannith. The dwarf swung a mighty swing at the warforged.

Attack on warforged advancing towards Lady d'Cannith (1d20+3=22)
Damage! (1d8+2=4)

Soryn

Everything truly seemed like a blur to this rogue as messages were being dropped and they were travelling hastily over to the Broken Anvil where he remembered they had shared their spoils after handing in the schema. He was not too acquainted with the Lady they had to meet as he had simply stumbled upon their task and profited from their hard earned trek. As they arrived, he listened to Gorfan, who always seemed so concerned during situations like these and in typical cleric fashion, praised his deity for the successes and extended prayer for well-being. They had been given yet another task but to do exactly what?

This rogue was used to acting on a whim but with actual direction so it was clear when instructions were given that he had to read them. Too bad the cleric already hefted the pack on to his back and attempted to leave. As he turned around, he stopped immediately when he saw the warforged at the door, fingers twitching as he wondered exactly what was going on here? Had they just been placed in a trap? He waited to see things unfold....only to see Gorfan automatically attack. He'd unsheathe his rapier now and simply wait to see how the attack faired against what he now considered an intruder.

Broken Anvil Tavern

Gorfan moves to attack as a shout from Lady Elaydren can be heard. "No! He's not a follower of the Lord of Blades. This is my bodyguard, Brass."

Gorfan's hammer lands solidly against Brass' chest, and a resounding Clang can be heard. Brass does not seem to be affected though. He looks at Gorfan, then to Lady Eladyren. "My Lady, they are coming. We must go now."

Unfortunately, the warning comes too late, as the door bursts open and a band of Kobolds leap through the doorway. They move in pairs to each side of the chamber. A fifth figure steps into the doorwar. He wears a large cloak, and as he pulls back the hood, you can see that it is Saber, the warforged who slayed Ahlias. He raises a light crossbow and fires it at Lady Elaydren.

{OOC: ROLL INITIATIVE!!!

At this point, Brass is no longer an NPC, and he is now being controlled by Oscuro. Good luck, gentlemen. A map will be coming forward shortly.}

Brass

The warforged that had opened the door only to be struck in the chest by a red faced dwarf turned at the violent opening of the door behind him. He began drawing his weapon, a slightly old and used looking Kilij. A blade that most would classify as a regular scimitar. While he may be similar in cursorary glance to Saber; humanoid amalgam of metal and wood, it was his clothing, or lack there-of that distinguished him. A simple, weather worn canvas backpack was slung over his shoulders, and around his waist was a wrapping of hempen cord. At his left side he bore the brown stained skull of some poor creature, strapped to the cord belt by a red ribbon. Above this grisly souvenir was what looked like a steel leaf with some symbol embossed upon it. At his right, the sheath for the blade hung by short lengths of cord, through a pair of eyelets, and a pouch was threaded into the belt.

Brass only worked to free his blade at the moment, while his deep hollow voice resonated, "Rush North!"

Soryn

Initiative against Saber's gang 1d20+3 = 23

With rapier in hand, he recognized Saber and immediately turned serious. The threat they were facing was nothing to take lightly but he would not rush in like Ahlias had on their battle before, especially when he brought friends this time. Remaining beside Gorfan for now, he wondered if the odds were far too much for them to handle. This newcomer in Brass, while an ally now, was not someone he fully trusted just yet. After all, he looked alot like that wretched Saber.

Figuring that they needed to get rid of the little minions that Saber decided to return with this time, he launches an attack on the Kobold that is the closest one to him, aiming to attack from the northwest knowing he has caught him off guard. (Attacking Kobold NPC 5 from square to the NW.)

Attack against Kobold NPC 5 1d20+4 = 22

Damage Roll against Kobold 1d6=6

Sneak Attack Bonus 1d6 = 5

Critical Threat Attack 1d20+4 = 10

Dmg Roll for Crit 1d6 = 3

Soryn

Soryn's attack places his rapier right through the eyesocket of the Kobold he targets. With a thud, the small creature collapses to the floor, twitching away his last moments of life.

Gorfan

Like his rogue ally, Gorfan also connects solidly against his foe and the wet THWACK sound can be heard. The kobold appears disabled by the hit.

Lady E

Lady Elaydren ducks behind the table and draws a potion of healing, which she drinks to heal the wound from Saber's crossbow bolt.

Alo

Alo fires his first magic spell, but he must've forgotten how short Kobolds were, and the spell sails over the vertically challenged opponent's head.

Brass

Brass draws his weapon as he moves in one smooth motion. Only because the Kobold wasn't expecting the attack so suddenly did Brass connect. Unfortunately, he doesn't drop his enemy.

Monsters

The Kobolds retaliate by teaming up on Gorfan and flanking him as they counter-attack. The first Kobold just kind of feints a couple times, unable to work up the strength to mount a full attack, but it gives his partner enough time to find a weakspot in Gorfan's armor. The Kobold drives his spear into the back ribs of the dwarf. (6 dmg)

The Kobold nearest to Soryn retaliates as well, stepping over the corpse of his fallen comrade to reach the rogue, but he fails to connect.

Saber on the other hand reloads his crossbow and fires a shot at Brass. His shot hits, but fortunately, Brass's heavy armor plating protects him from damage. "Traiterous Flesh-Lover! I'll see you dismantled for betraying your race!"

The shot and words were however, apparently enough to distract Brass from his swing; His second attack failing miserably and letting the kobold he had wounded skitter away from harm with ease.

Attack on Kobold #2: 1d20+3=5

"Love or hate are feelings I do not embrace Construct. For I make my own mind, unlike you who bows just as low as the weakest slave!"

Soryn

Soryn's rapier slices with a flourish through the kobold's(5) reptilian skin, carving out a letter 'S' in the scales of the little beast.

Gorfan

Gorfan's hammer lands another blow, and the kobold (3) drops to the floor, unmoving.

Lady E

From behind the table, Lady E murmers the words to cast a magic spell.

{OOC: Map has been updated. See beginning of round 2. Note that it does not include the actions you have made for round 2, so gorfan's kill isn't reflected.}
