The Forgotten Forge: OOC

Regarding HP:
This is still just a game guys. It isn't going to be exactly like real life. You have to suspend your disbelief a little bit. I'm not changing how HP works in any of my games. Its too much of a core mechanic for any tinkering without causing a lot of side effects.

@Amnile - No, If you want Gorfan to start healing you instead of you having to pay for it, you need to take that up with him in character. Whats already spent is already spent and can't be recovered.

Also, he doesn't need to rest to regain spells. He's a cleric, not a wizard. He regains his spells once per day, as long as he prays for them.

Just fo' Sj.

Sj, you're doing a good job of DMing. Sometimes its a shitty, thankless job...but without you, this shit wouldn't be happening. So do your thing, man.

On that note, I don't want you to think I'm telling you how to run your game...I've just been in one too many games where I was having fun and then most or all of the other players were hung up on some minor detail (like the HP thing) and either they got pissed and quit or (more often) the DM got pissed and quit. That's why I make suggestions, here and there, about things I think will not change the game drastically but will add enough relief for people not to be whining and hating on the rules you've got in effect.

As you've already probably noticed by some of my odder gaming habits, I've played under some really fanatical rule-nazi DMs (even more-so then you). I get it...you've got things you want to do and there's a reason you're doing them a certain way. After all, this game has to be as much of a rewarding experience for you as it does for the character, or else you'll get bored and just decide to quit someday.

It comes down to this: I'm having fun and I don't want to stop. So anything I say to you I only say because I don't want this game to end before it ever really begins.

[Edit]Also, I know I have my character do a lot of things that seem unnecessary or overly-specific, but as a player, I am going to challenge your abilities as a DM with my RP. If it becomes a problem, let me know and we'll figure out whether I can "tone it down" or if I just need to leave the game in order for everyone else to have fun.

You don't need to worry about me quitting. As long as the players want to play, I'm in it.

Edit: Challenge my abilities as DM?

As a DM, my own measurable ability is whether the players are having fun. And if you do anything that even jeapordizes that, I'll kick your ass.

Challenge me in some way that doesn't get in the way of anyone else enjoying themselves though and its all good.

Raharanor! you get all your spells recharged when you sleep. You should of casted healing spells (and NOT use action points to do it) on yourself for free to get to full hp then sleep to get your spells back.

SJ! since that is what a would usually do can we pretend he did that and start Gorfan at full HP and lose no money?

Zeth, my hard drive on my computer is temporarily out of commission and is being fixed, so won't be back with it for at least a couple of days...and the fact that I'm having to sneak onto my mum's laptop when I can(she doesn't like me messing up her notebook) when everyone's asleep...hence my lack of posting of late in IC when you guys in other timezone are absolutely leaving me behind for dead. If any of you bothered to read that OOC post earlier in thread about my situation I wouldn't be battered by cries of 'post damnit Gorfan' & having to catch up on half a zillion pages of posting.

And yes, I cannot access messenger on here at this time...just be patient guys and let me sort out the minor details when I can.

Welcome to Getting to Know Eberron with your host, the venerable Jai.

Today, we handle money conversions.

Eberron (specifically the continent of Khorvaire) has more artful names for their money than simply "gold pieces" or "silver pieces." Can you use those terms? Sure. Nobody cares. If you're more comfortable doing that, by all means, go right ahead.

If you're like me, though, you like to fall into character in a setting as much as possible. So, here are the "proper names" for the money in all of Khorvaire.

-Platinum pieces are known as "Dragons," because Eberronian mythology is heavily based on all things draconic. They bear the emblem of a dragon.
-Gold pieces are known as "Galifars," which was the name of the most successful human kingdom established in Khorvaire. They bear the emblem of the Galifar standard (sorry, folks, I couldn't find a pic of it).
-Silver pieces are known as "Sovereigns," modeled after the most popular religion in Khorvaire, the Sovereign Hosts. They are marked with the symbol of the Sovereign Host.
-Copper pieces are known as "Crowns," probably because they are marked with the emblem of a crown on them.

I forgot something.

When I first did that map for the battle, i picked everyone's color at random. However, I wanted to give you all the chance to pick your own color.

Black is taken by me for bad guys and NPCs. Everything else is available.
Try to stick to primary colors, because they show up the best when contrasting. First come first served.

Also, if you can, set your text to be the same color as your token when you speak. That helps to keep your color in the mind of other people.

You're welcomed, Rah.

Magus and Rah, you're both grossly over-paying for food, though. This is the price guide to eating in Sharn as found in Sharn: City of Towers...

  • Dinner Quality-Outstanding (Celestial Vista) = 75sp per Person
  • Dinner Quality-Excellent (Sannid's) = 40sp per Person
  • Dinner Quality-Good (Besmir's Folly) = 35cp per Person
  • Dinner Quality-Common (The Commons) = 19cp per Person
  • Dinner Quality-Poor (Street Vendor) = 12cp per Person

Considering The Broken Anvil is in a, shall we say "distressed" district, the price for a meal is probably in the "good" category. That's 3.5 Silver/Sovereigns.

Of course, if Sj posted a different price guide somewhere, stick with that.

I did post a price guide in the IC thread. Its the standard prices. However, I'll be using your price guide after this session. For now though, we'll stick with what I posted to avoid any sort of confusion.

Just a note for the spellcasters...

I haven't badgered you about this, but I do expect you to note when you replenish spells and when you prepare them, if you need to. Rah, I'm being very lenient with you because of your computer situation and limited time, but when you get back, I'll crack down on that.

Made a note of this

Jai just contacted me this morning and told me to kill off his character. He has to drop out for personal reasons. He may come back for another game someday.
