Soryn
HP:5
AC:15

The acid that dripped down against him burned horrendously and caused him to snarl rather primitively. The larger wound was dealt to his pride as he stood before some unknown people and just managed to make a complete fool out of himself. The momentary lapse in skill only infuriated him but he managed to regain composure and attempt to search for actual traps this time. No sense in causing himself any more pain...

Trap Search

Alo

Alo was about to introduce himself when the trap went off. He thought it must be magic, and his curiosity was activated. He stepped closer and had a look at it, especially the symbol.

"Magic I think..Hmmm I wonder" Alo started to cast a spell

((Casts Detect Magic))

"I thought so. The trap must be a spell." He was still focussed intently upon the door, trying to scrape as many insights from one casting of the spell as he could.

You detect magic on the door.
You only detect one Faint aura.
The aura glows in your vision as a soft yellow, indicating its from the school of Conjuration.

Soryn

Traps were not seen just yet and before he even thought of trying again, the sight of Alo suddenly coming up next to him and casting some sort of spell made him arch a brow. He simply stepped back a single step and then looked elsewhere. He still wasn't sure what these people were doing here, but he suddenly found himself asking "So do you have any ideas?" If he'd have to use these three to help him open this door then so be it.

Alo

"Conjuring. The spell on..erm in..the door is a summoning spell, or a conjration of some sort. Pulling the acid from somewhere perhaps."

Trapped Doors

Ahlias moved up to the man, his sword having lowered when he realised this man was no Warforged or otherwise enemy presence. He moved to the door and removed the book from his belt poach, assured that the symbols were the same.

"Maybe this book has something to do with it?", ahlias said, knowing it must be the answer. He didn't wish to be the recipient of an acid ball though. He sat and thought about it. Then something clicked in his mind. Might it act as a key?

Ahlias nodded to Soryn and placed the book, cover-side out, against the trapped door and immedietly tensed up to brace himself against whatever was coming.

The Door to Yesterday

Ahlias' intuition proves to be correct. The book's own symbol absorbs the glow from the hatch and the handle twists itself. The door swings open and reveals a vertical shaft about 5 ft wide behind it. The inside is pitch black, but you can feel wind rushing out from the pipe. The air smells much fresher than the stagnant air of the sewers.

Ahlias sticks his hand out into the tunnel and curses before turning back to his friends.

"Oh...well, who has rope?"

Soryn

Where that man got that book from and how he thought of opening the door that way was beyond the care of this man as now the door was open and the shaft had been revealed. He knew better than to rush at anything now so he simply motioned to see if any of the other two would go first. There was nothing valuable in sight yet or so it seemed. "I am not going in first."

Alo

Alo unslung his rucksack from his shoulder, then pulled out a bundled rope.

"One rope." He said then offered Ahlias the rope.

Gorfan
HP:10/10
AC:14 (T:10, FF:14)

Gorfan had looked on in amazement at the nature of the door and the arcane trap that lay within the door. The acid splash had been far from him, but he still flinched slightly as it hit the man Soryn. Placing the book against the door was sheer intuition on their part.

Now they were going to have to climb down the shaft with the one rope owned by Alo.

" I cannot fathom how deep this shaft actually is," Gorfan remarked," but it is a fair way to climb down...if the rest of you can do it, I'm sure a sturdy dwarf such as myself can handle it!" He completed this remark with a gruff tone to it.

As the only person with darkvision, you can see better than the rest since no one has bothered to shine a light down the tunnel yet. The walls are rough and made with a combination of metal and stone and earth. You can see down the shaft for a fair distance. It appears to go down 20 ft and then it starts to turn and level out into more of a tunnel. You should have no problem descending with the use of a rope.

You can also see that the walls are lined with crawling centipedes, beetles, and other harmless bugs.

Ahlias was already on that path of thinking. He was an adventurer-in-training after all! A hand moved to grasp the rope and he looked around for something to tie it to. For a moment, he slung the rope over his shoulder and removed something from his belt pouch. In examination, the item resembled a wand-like instrument of golden material. The end was tipped with a piece of wood or clay and with a resounding snap, Ahlias broke this piece off.

In an instant, the tunnel was bathed in a bright glow, but the light dimmed within a few second and focused itself into a cone-like beam from the end of the Sunrod. Indeed, the light was equivalent to that of a strong flashlight and gave full detail to anything it shined upon. Ahlias handed the sunrod to Soryn and again began to draw out some rope.

"Find me something to tie that rope too..."

{OOC: Everyone can now look at Gorfan's spoiler now that Ahlias has illuminated the shaft.}

Looking around, Ahlias can see a pipe that looks sturdy enough to secure the rope with.

Ahlias set to work tieing the rope off at the pipe and then stepping to the edge of the opening. He motioned for Alo to brighten the way and the warrior grimaced as the light reflected wetly off the moist carapices of the bugs and things that covered the wall.

A twitch in his cheek surpressed, Ahlias tied the rope around his waist and gave it a good tug for security, and then backed off into the tunnel.

"Yummy...", the warrior grunted sarcastically as he felt a centipede fall into his hair and crawl down his shirt.

Alo

Alo watched the others as they went about the business of illuminating the tunnel and tying off the rope. He was releived that Ahlias had used the sunroad. Elves have darkvision. Changelings pretending to be Elves are as blind as a bat in the darkness, without echo location to make up for it.

He wanted to get a good look at that book at some point. Not only were its contents firing up his curiosity, but it was magic as well.

((Will I be able to use "animate rope" to untie the rope once they've climbed down it. They might need it again.))

Soryn

The reluctant rogue took the sunrod in his hand, but said nothing about what he needed to do. Nearing the shaft, he positioned the sunrod accordingly to aid the man in his descent. He did need him alive if anything else occurred after all. He made sure to watch for anything odd about the descent. He wanted to be in one piece when he saw what lied down there after all.
