Mohan

"Missing children again? Perhaps we should start tying them down." Mohan said in response. He was in full battle gear. Leather armour, swords, bow and quiver. He'd been hoping it was going to be tracking a fugitive.

"How long has he been missing?"

Lieutenant Trent

"Just a day. He didn't come home last night, his parents reported him gone this morning. You know these surrounding areas as well as anyone. I trust you'll have no problems tracking him down.

I'll leave you two it."

He turns on his heel and walks away, leaving you with Dietrik. "I've got maps of the area in my office, if you'd care to look."

Mohan

"He cannot have gone that far. Lets have a look." There were several places within a days travel the boy could have gone, but he was likely not to be that far off, unless he was snatched.

Jaiden

Her interaction with the elven woman was brief, but satisfactory. That moment when Mohan had sat down adn specifically told her what she'd done incorrectly (as if she didn't already know) irritated her. It had annoyed her to the point where, after everyone had left, she remained behind practicing until the morning light had risen over the horizon. She was a perfectionist, and until she was able to clear her claws of the handle enough to throw it to her satisfaction, she continued to toss that dagger into the board. Each night following that 9of which she wasn't working) she returned to that same place and continued to practice.

Dietrik

Dietrik shows you to his office. You've been here before on expeditions such as this. His office is well organized. He is the sole keeper of records of regarding land ownership in the area. He is definitely a bookish fellow.

He pulls out a folder with several maps in it, all displaying the area north of Diamond Lake. He spreads several of the maps out over his table. The pair of you go over the maps, marking out likely points where searchers should concentrate.

You mark off a small gorge to be the destination of one scouting party. A cluster of fruit trees as another likely target, since the boy would probably be hungry by now. Finally, you mark off an old abandoned mine manager's office, where the boy might have taken shelter.

Those are the only likely places you find on the recent maps. However, you notice a small peculiarity in one of the maps. This particular map looks very old. On it, you notice a bit of faded writing noting a location labeled 'Whispering Cairn'. You've never heard of that Cairn before.

Unfortunately, before you can give it much thought, the Lieutenant returns and starts rushing you out the door to begin searching. You start heading towards the old Mine manager's office.

Mohan made a note in his mind of that cairn, he would have to look into that. It was probably less well know that most of them around here. There might even still be something interesting there. As he was thinking this, he was directed from the room.

Mohan

You approach the abandoned office. The place is quite a crumbling mess. As you approach, you hear the rushing footsteps of a very short person. The young boy comes barreling out of some nearby bushes, looking incredibly relieved at the sight of you. "Boy, am I glad to see you guys! I thought I was lost forever."

You take the young lad back and consider it a job well done, if slightly unfulfilling.

Mohan

"It was very dull" Mohan said to Jaiden as they sat at the table in the Feral Dog. "Tracking down a lost child. Why send the best tracker in Diamond Lake to do that? I'm starting to think I need to find something more fitting." He said.

He'd met Jaiden here as usual, but he'd also left a message with Slade, a warforged soldier he knew from the Garrison. He would not tell Jaiden his plans until Slade arrived, he would only have to tell the story once that way.

Jaiden

She quirked a brow at his whining and smirked at the same time. "Apparently the best tracker in Diamond Lake is only good enough to get that style of work." Her eyes lifted to him, taunting, like a child would do to a sibling. Rapping her claw tips on the table in thought she replied on a different level. "Then again, perhaps this child is of importance? A valuable loss?"

Mohan

Mohan growled and took a swig from his mug. "I do not see how valuable anyone who can get that lost, this close to home can be. Crushed any skulls recently, its starting to become a weekly event? How much for the more exotic fare? Smack" He replied with a grin and a gesture of a punch.

Slade

He cared little for establishments like these. He never needed to drink or eat and the people here weren't all that affable. Such was the state of Diamond Lake, however, so in his complacency with that fact he had no qualms meeting Mohan here. His large frame didn't really allow him to sit down properly at a chair and fatigue wasn't really an issue for him so he simply made his way with intense force over to where he saw the man and spoke plainly.

"What can I assist you with Mohan?"

The construct simply stood there, not really standing out all that much since people were well within their drunken stupor but definitely not blending in either. He knew Mohan well and even went out on several missions with the man but duty was duty. He assumed this had something to do with the Garrison so he came over quickly. It must be important.

Mohan

Slade's arrival gave Mohan a victory of sorts, for now. The banter would stop for the time being.

"Slade. Good to see you." He took another drink. "Alright then, down to business. When I was helping plan the mission to track down the missing boy, I spotted something on a map. You remember those adventurers from Sharn who were off treasure hunting. Well I think I know where we, the three of us, can find something alot more worthwhile than they will manage. It isn't garrison business Slade, but it might help you spread your wings alittle, or even buy some to bolt on."

Jaiden

They were suddenly interrupted by a very large man that was a stranger to her and apparently a friend to Mohan. Jaeden wasn't fond of larger people, it made her feel uncomfortable in the same manner as a mouse would feel walking beside the foot of an elephant. She remained in her reclined state, though beneath the table the claws of her right hand were curled in the case of a much-needed attack.

Slade

This warforged had a knack for alot of things. He regarded Jaiden quickly almost as if he realized her unease but there was no emotion displayed. He was a construct after all! Looking at Mohan now, he took in all that was said and realized that the tracker was picking at delicate strings within this being's mind. The possibility of leaving Diamond Lake was intriguing. Though he never openly showed it, he plainly responded yet again.

"Very well...What is this..plan of yours?"

Mohan

"I think I know where we can lay our hands on a good haul of gold. I'll tell you more, but there are folks who might overhear us in here. We need two more, ideally at least someone who might have a good idea about traps and locks. A healer might help. I can tend wounds, but I'm no priest. If you two can find them, then meet me at the old mining office to the North of town. Meet me at noon tomorow. I'll head there now I'll leave a marker for you outside town, I should be certain it is safe by the time you arrive." Mohan took another drink, almost draining his mug.

"What do you two say?"

Jaiden

She shrugged her shoulders half-heartedly. "Ir's either that or spend another night laying out drunks. I'm game."

Slade

His baritone voice rumbled out of his constructed body.

"I shall join you in this endeavour Mohan..."

Entrusted with finding some extra travellers, he wondered who could possibly benefit them besides a healer. He knew of no trap-searchers that could aid him, but he knew the Silver Flame would guide him exactly where he needed to be. With that, he left Mohan to whatever he was doing and went to search out...always attempting to be efficient with whatever he does.

Exiting the establishment, he made sure to note when they would have to meet up and began wondering where he could find someone to help them with traps or healing.

The Feral Dog

The three of you agree to meet tomorrow to plan out the details. As you go your separate ways, you are each involved with your own thoughts.

You are having trouble thinking of anyone who is good with traps in particular. However, as you think of others who might be useful, you realize that someone of intelligence might be useful. The smartest person you know is the Artificer, Fortus, who occassionally helps you with repairs. He studies under the wizard Allustan.

... come to think of it, he is pretty good with his hands, so he might be able to figure out how to disable traps too?

As you consider people who might be useful on this adventure, the mention of a priest immediately makes you think of Hazrad, the halfling who works at the local Jorasco house of healing.

The building you have chosen to meet at is the same one you saw when you rescued that boy awhile before. The state of affairs was not good. It would need quite a bit of labor to restore it to a suitable headquarters, but it could be done.

Though it took him a while to think of someone, he found ample reason to suggest a certain artificer who has helped him many a time before. If he could deal with his large metallic self, then he might be able to conjure up some way to deal with pesky contraptions like traps. With this logic, he set out to find the man named Fortus, trying to formulate a proper way to suggest his companionship on this trip.
