Mission Eleven: Sakidō

There's a moment where Darwin would lay sprawled before he would bring himself up, remembering that he has to do something but with no idea what that something is. The sound of his pulse drumming away at his ears didn't make anything better, either, his entire body wavering like a leaf and just as likely to flutter back to the forest floor and land against the underbrush. "That... that may be a good option.. but... but where is Shasse?" He shakes his head. Was that why he's here? To find Shasse? He could have sworn he saw her but a moment ago. "Shasse... you... you read? Shasse?"

His head swivels left to right. His balance goes with it, nearly knocking him down a couple times, as though his center of gravity were on a pendulum tied to his chin. "Sh-Sho... Eden-Shosa... permisisisission to go and search for Shasse-Hei..." He closes his eyes, trying his best to gather his thoughts. "I can't get a response from her... I need to go and find her." Something deep down made him feel responsible for whatever mess Shasse just got in. Maybe her communicator was knocked out? Maybe she crashed and fell on unconscious - or worse, dead. He grits his teeth. "Permission or no, I'm going to go find her." He takes a second to breathe, feeling the sensation of fighting the state of wooziness as a 180 from what he felt earlier, his gut wrenching and his body numb. the warmth became heat, and beads of sweat dribbled down his forehead. His cheeks were aflame, as though he had a fever that just wouldn't break. "Come on... Shasse, do you copy? Give me... a read on your location..." He speaks over his communicator.

Shasse lay unmoving at the base of a large tree she'd run into with her helmet having completely disconnected from the suit and lying about 10m from her in a slight ditch, Darwin's voice came through the comms and broke the silence of the forest but his pleas ultimately fell on deaf ears. The blue neko had been knocked out cold and her body lay at a funny angle after bouncing off so many branches during her fall, she didn't even stir once while the helmet played the comms message.

Miles on the other hand was still hovering above the treeline with his vision going cloudy along with his mind as he entered a stage of a sort of "waking black-out". He knew what he was doing but could barely remember what he had just done, he flicked off his comms and headed towards the mountains as instructed, Miles looked around to ask someone what he was meant to be doing but couldn't find any and somehow the prospect of using the comms slipped his mind.

Although he had stopped his attempt to contact Eden mid-way his data on the plants and atmospheric composition had been sent to her directly already, while the minkan flew along like a drunken bumblebee Shasse continued to lay on the forest floor without moving a muscle or uttering a sound.

Sacre looked at her readings, "It looks like there are some people with energy weapons up ahead of us. We might want to be careful." She suggested, pushing the yellow dots for unknown onto the heads up display.

"Fuckin' demon-water! I called it!" Gravity whined and leaped into the air, as her Mindy loadout was specifically designed for air support and superiority. Her dual gauss cannons, missile pods, and drones locked onto the oily, dark, demonic creature below.

"Oh, never mind, false alarm!" Gravity called out dryly when she got a closer look at the... thing. "It's just Sacre's sense of humor."

As the black sludge suddenly bubbled into a mound of what looked to be one entity before producing a gaping, pink mouth, the daur would find her fur fluffed almost instantly. It wasn't that she was scare of this creature...ok, a tinge scared, but she was more curious about it all than scared, just staring into it's maw with wide, blue eyes.

"What would happen if I poked it's "body" with a long stick..?" the thought would pass through her mind briefly before a flash of movement and then a body blocked her view of the strange creature. It was Katsu, gun drawn steadily and drones creating a sort of barrier between the three there hovering now. She was rather used to being the one doing any protecting while in her mindy considering she had an ellipsoid shield fused onto her left forearm, as well as a barrier shield module and back up capacitor. But she had not brought along her weapon, a submachine gun similar to Katsu's except bearing the aether bayonet blade. So she would be fine sitting this one out on the sidelines. She looks to Katsu and gives him a nod before she looks passed him to Lauren. She gives the woman a jerk of her mindy's head. "Let's back up, situation is unstable." And with that, she would lightly kick off the air itself as she began to glide backwards.

Eden hung back, "I won't leave you two behind! Commence search for Emiko-hei, Schultz-hei. Belmont-hei, assist us."

SAINT gave the operative denied access to the intricacies of the Santo Hei's file. A fight between what looked like an ogre and an ornately dressed and tall man with what looked like minor fire magic abilities was breaking out one hundred meters ahead of them.

Those to the south would notice that Hoshi had alerted and slowed and said over comms, "I am seeing those readings as red flags. Proceed with caution."

As they flew closer, they would see the inlet of the bay was completely desolate, save for a few cave openings. The team would see that most of the life forms were both within the cave networks' entrances, but the energy weapons were far within the caves.

"Ideas or opinions on how to proceed, team," Hoshi said tersely over their comms.

It seemed like Gravity had made the wrong move, because a second creature rose up out of the tar-like pit and with two erect and crabbish eyes, blinked quickly one at a time. Its amorphous blobby body opened at the mouth and a froggy tongue exited the humanoid sludge monster. It latched onto Gravity and she wouldn't see, but once inside, its crab-like eyes blinked again in sync and she was swallowed!

This one, a male, was unlike the other sludge monster, a female, that did not have an extendable and sticky tongue. The female, meanwhile, was gulping down Alastair's drones and they would have a similar experience to Gravity, who was being whipped through what did seemed like a creature's gullet. It would eventually feel like dozens of hundreds of feet of internals, all of which was tunnel-like, as if the drones and Gravity were going through an endless set of intestines fitted tightly around them very quickly.

Fort Miller

Muyomi asked, "Should we be going?"

Leeta looked to Mark, Chlorate, and Kiki and a few others hanging back in the hangar still, "Are you all set to go South?"

It's an Alien Planet! A Tar Planet!

Arete had to suppress her panic a little bit as one of the other soldiers with her basically got eaten. Okay, Arete you can do something. Just... Make it let her go. The smol soldier raised up her NSP, taking aim at the monster that was engulfing Gravity, and fired several times at it, shouting out, "AaaaaAAAAAAH!" As she did so, her pistol's aim wavered a bit, still mostly pointed at the form's body.

This was her first time in any form of non-training-based combat, and she was NOT going to let somebody die when it just started!

Belmont-hei, Belmont-hei, where had he heard that name before it was definitely familiar to him, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. The minkan brought a hand to his chin and in the process accidentally rolled so his back was to the ground.

There was also that other name, Emiko. Miles definitely knew someone Emiko in fact he began to feel scared when he realised this person was missing. With as much strength as he could manage he tried to remember, at first nothing happened but instead of remembering he accidentally brought up his medic HUD.

His eyes scanned the list of names as his head was suddenly unclogged and he could remember again. “This is Miles, my head isn’t doing too well but I have recovered enough of my senses for now. What happened to Shay er Shasse is she ok?” Eden and Darwin would hear the concern and fear in his voice as he decended to help search.

“And Tien-shosa, you should have recieved my uhh, my my my. My research data! Thats it, did you also want me to send it to boss?”

In the belly of the beast...

Things had happened so fast that by the time Gravity put two and two together, it was too late. Was she dead? No, apparently not. That could only mean...

"OH MY GOD! GROOOOOSSSS!" Shrieked the pilot from inside her armor. The only solace in all of this was that she was secured in her Mindy. Panic and blinding rage were the only things she could feel in the darkness that was this creature's digestive tract. And as many people knew, Gravity's panic response to most things was to start fighting like a cornered jungle cat. That's exactly what she did. With a battle cry/scream, she began thrashing, clawing, kicking, and punching in every direction.

"Fuck you, Nora! I wanted to have a fun race across the ocean but noooooo! We have to go explore the creepy, dark forest! Fuck!" snarled the azure pilot as she struggled, hoping to at least give this thing an annoying case of indigestion. When she grew tired of kicking and punching, she began firing her forearm cannons and screaming "DIE! DIE! DIE!"

"I guess....wait, I'm getting combat alerts from multiple units. They may need backup, do we have any extra drones?" Mark asked as he began to hover, now worried for his fellow crew.

East - Literally Trouble Hunting

Walter Hyde picked up on the fight that is hundreds of meters ahead. The fight appeared to have just started, in Walter's opinion.

"You want to keep looking for fruit, or do you want to do some enforcing, Harris-Heisho?" Walter asked. He transmitted a snippet of live feed of what he saw to his superior for more context.

Darwin's head kept spinning. Or was it his eyes? Something felt like it was going in circles, but his brain wouldn't tell him what. He dropped to a knee and lowered his head, yanking off his helmet in desperation to get some fresh air. His suit shut down immediately, and he can feel its weight begin to settle around him. Something solid. Something real. Something he could support himself with. He took a deep breath in... followed by one out. A bead of sweat trickled fown his eyebrow to the tip of his nose before landing in the foliage. It took all he had to keep from retching where it landed. The team doesn't need someone to be low on energy later on. Shasse doesn't need someone weak to find her.

As much as it hurt his head, he pulled himself to his feet once more. "Th-thank you... Shosa Eden." He drags his feet along from one tree to the next, zigzagging along the trail, but pausing at every turn to gather his bearings. He grips his helmet in one hand, like a child carrying a stuffed animal. "She grabbed my arm and wanted to race towards a large tree nearby. She hasn't responded. I... I think she lost control."

Upon getting the access denied from SAINT, explictives explode in his head. Does SAINT even pay attention to what is going on? Who the hell is this Santo Hei to have SAINT protection of even basic information? He would lodge a complaint, but he is stranded in another universe, so lot of good that is going to do.

Then he looks down and sees what is going on.

"Neither, Santo-Hei. I am simply observing. We do not know who is who or what this is about. I am not going to be the one that causes relations to worsen because of some misplaced sense of altruism." He says flatly.

"But I am not going to stop you from trying either. Just be sure you are correct before acting." His tone lightens a tad bit. He prepares his weaponry just in case all of this really hits Space Mexico. Whatever that is.

Walter Hyde only nodded and flew down to the fighting going on between the tall man and the ogre. He stopped by the side of the tall man, and fired a couple of grenades at the ogre from the barrels of the two automatic grenade launchers that are installed at the shoulder slots.

From what Walter already knew, the guy he has unofficially partnered up with is a magic user, and the monster they are fighting is a ogre, commonly a tough monster to kill that loves to eat humans.

Walter Hyde couldn't see the point of formalities, but rather than launching all sixty shots at once, Walter Hyde shot just two grenades at the ogre to see if it will behave differently. At the very least, the Minkan had the courtesy to not wipe out the monster right in front of him.

Alastair was wise in the fact he had stayed back away from the tar monster in order to give him time to evaluate the situation. He was also curious how the recruits would react in such a situation. It very quickly went to hell when most of the team thought it wise to get close to the tar monster.

Panic started to sweep the ranks as Gravity was slurped up whole by the tar monster. "Keep it together and put some distance between yourselves and the tar things." He yelled over comms trying to get the recruits to snap out of guns open panic mode. "And for the love of god careful shooting the one with our teammate in it. I don't feel like having to explain to Hoshi how they died." He continued to yell over the comms.

He took a deep breath and evaluated the situation. He knew they had a little time before the tar, depending on what substance it was made of, would be able to compromise Gravity's mindy defenses. He also had lost his favorite set of drones.

"Bloody knight, what a situation we got ourselves into. I am going after Gravity and make sure the one with my drones in it does not get away." He commanded over the comms as he moved in after the male. He hoped that his drones communications still worked as he commanded them to point to the sky and open fire. His Aether beam saber hummed to life as he detached it from his waist.

His eyes narrowed and rapidly scanned the tar monster with Gravity inside it. He quickly picked up the motion from inside and believed this was Gravity trying to escape. Blade slightly in front of him he engaged his mindy's thrusters and aimed to drive his weapon into the beast. Just moments before contact his mindy picked up weapon fire and adjusted his aim off center of this to try and stab beside Gravity.

Her ears flatten against her skull as she could do nothing but watch as the second tar monster emerged and caught gravity with it's tongue before swallowing the neko whole. The blood would drain from her face and a burning sensation would rise in her throat as her worse fears were realized. She was the reason a team member was about to die.

Gritting her teeth, her hand instinctively slid back to grab onto the handle of her revolver at her right waist. Alistar's order coming over the comms did not settle her, she wished she was the one jumping in to save gravity, she wished she wasn't sidelined like this, she wished she had been eaten instead. But all the daur could do was stay there were she was, wishing, watching with fearful eyes and bile in her throat as others who were better equipped took on the rescue.

"Father, where are the alerts coming from?" asked Chlorate, preparing to run towards them. She wasn't sure what was attacking them, but she was ready to go help them... Even though she would be relying on her superstrength and inorganic body as she had no weapons.

Katsu was quite a bit surprised as a second creature rose up and a quick tongue grabbed Gravity, pulling her in. The first one swallowed a drone. The fox boy sighed, not because he was annoyed or anything, but because he had hoped that the creatures would maybe be curious, but not hostile. Also, Alistair quite literally screaming and yelling into the comms was anything but helpful. But there was nothing he could do to stop that.

With an uncanny calmness, he talked clearly and without any panic or such. "Sylph Drone One to Four, mark incoming Tongues and Tentacles as hostile and intercept with lasers as possible." he said, basically commanding his drones to not only shoot at incoming rockets, but also to defend him, themselves, and those near him against more of those sudden attacks. Then he braced the submachinegun against his shoulder and aimed down the sights at the creature which didn't have Gravity in it and wasn't engaged with Alistair, shooting the Aether smg in short, controlled bursts at the creature, aiming for the center of it's mass to quickly bring it down. As he shot, he calmly talked on the comms, trying to get the others to calm down as well with his calm voice. "Lauren, Nora, Arete, stay behind me. Focus your eyes on the surroundings. Lauren, look to the right, Arete takes the left side. Nora, check the area above, below, and behind us. Keep calm and keep your heads on your shoulders."

West is Best(Or not)

The little sage's mind had dulled, Alastair's bellowing voice adding to the din of combat, of panic and strife. Arete only stopped firing when Katsu spoke, his cool voice cleanly cutting through the fog she had collected in her mind. Taking a step back, her armored hands trembled fractions of a centimeter while they held her service pistol at the ready. She gingerly crept to her left, but her eyes couldn't look away from the creature that had devoured Gravity.

At this point Abart had caught up with the group of Neko, whizzing in from the lower left, hooking up on their formation. "Theisilis-hei back from the 'scenic' route." The added blips on the radar were peculiar. The idea of advanced energy weapons being holed up deep within caverns could only remind him of secret villain hideouts, be it guerilla millitants or doomsday organizations. Even if those assumptions were a bit cliché, having those ignatures deep within the caves was suspicious, to say the least.

"Hmm. Advanced energy weapons concealed in dark caves in great quantity, that can't be a good thing, methinks. If they have this gear it would be save to assume they have radar-like equipment too. Perhaps moving in on foot to not stand out as much would be better, especially in my case...... disregarding the lack of feet." The group was slowly gaining on the rocky cliffs, and the notion of possible cobat made Abart check his weapons loadout once more. Between the LASR, Gauss, and ASP, supported by a SLAG and a variert of grenades and NSB's, he was well equipped for a heavy, all-out firefight. However being in foreign lands, with little to no idea what otherworldy events would await them in those caves, mould make it unwise to just waltz in, running and gunning.

"Looks like they're down south..." Nerai replied to mark, seeing the same readings on her Shibui's HUD. Aerther saber rifle firmly strapped to her shoulder hardpoint, along with her triple energy NSP on her waist. Nerai was starting to express some interest in going south... "Abart's headed over that way..... i can't help but want to check up on how he's doing..."
