Mission Eleven: Sakidō

Santo Hei Mark Oaklen turned to his daughter, "Honey, you not feeling well, or something? You seem fine, but I'll still run one." He said as he placed his hand to her forehead, his eyes now glowing crimson as he began searching through code for anything wrong.

Miles
The minkan had been his usual quiet self since they had made the jump to Ayenee preferring to sit back and watch the others go about the QnA session, he had opted to have a copy of himself made to stay at home and find some other place to fit in perhaps follow his brother and join the ground forces.

Miles couldn't say he hated moving to this new place it piqued his desire to explore and learn as a scientist more so than the idea of being sent out into combat constantly. At the mention of their mission to find pomegranates the young mans face seemed to become transparent and show exactly how much confusion and strange excitement he felt at that moment.

Shasse
Standing beside Miles was the ever beaming blue skinned neko who had not been quite so enthusiastic at the idea of moving to a new place, in fact she had almost declined save for Miles. The bouncy infantry member had known the introverted medic since training and hearing that he was going she had rushed to go as well claiming she didn't want to be one-upped by a space nerd although she partly did it to keep an eye on her old friend.

"Shut your mouth you big dope, you look like a kid on their birthday." she said punching him in the arm at seeing his expression "and while your at it try to man up a little, we're in a new place with new people so see if you can make some friends unless you want to be stuck with me hitting you all the time."

"Yes father..." Chlorate said, "Though the universal jump and the holographic being in the temple who overloaded my systems had me concerned." Clankrate's code seemed fine though.

Kiki couldn't help but stare at Mark and Chlorate. "Fascinating..." she couldn't help but utter out loud. "They're connected... that's... Wow... that's cool!" Kiki's excited voice was audible to both of them, though Chlorate didn't pay attention, not hearing her say anything particularly important.

Katsu stood rather relaxed as he listened to the others talking. Part of the reason he was so relaxed was because he honestly didn't understood a lot of what has happened. The decision if he was willed to leave everyone and everything he knew was rather easy. He has done so before when he left his home nation, and the only ones he knew that weren't part of the Kaiyo, were those he trained under and with, and a few traders of the Hidden Sun Clan. And going to a new world didn't sound like a painful experience after all.

The fox boy didn't even seem in the slightest bit confused as he heard about their mission to go and find a Pomegranate. With the language barrier he didn't know what that thing even was, but granate sounded rather similar to grenade, so he assumed it was some sort of weapon. And if a Nekovalkyrja was concerned about that, it had to be a really powerful grenade. So hearing that they were supposed to go look for one, he simply assumed that it was a rather powerful weapon. As the command came to go to the hangar and get suited up, he started jogging there and quickly shed his normal uniform to start and get into 'his' Mindy armor and be ready.

"No, I was enjoying the solitude," Aiko said flatly in reply to William's greeting, maintaining her inattentive stare out over the miles of grassy lowlands that stretched to meet Ayenee's majestic Starlight Forest beyond. She'd turn to face him after a few moments nonetheless, her immediate thoughts irrevocably brought back to the present. "It is time to gear up, come along with me," she added, seeing a few of her crew mates heading towards the hangars on Hoshi's order, "unless you do not intend to assist the Star Army today."

William Sanders.

Though her sworn yojimbo, just like his adoptive mother, the revelation that he was the Nepleslian Sky Marshal's son had cast William in a different light. Aiko embraced his loyalty fully, knowing not to squander something so rare no matter the universe they inhabited. But any boy of Nepleslia's top leadership — Gaelan Sanders' resignation to come build Nightwalker Station hadn't much diminished the sway he would always hold back home — truly had no business guarding a Ketsurui Clan princess. Both he and Rei were lucky Hoshi and Eden were such accommodating commanders, as was Aiko. The last thing she wanted was a Close Protection officer from the military police following her around instead of a proper retinue.

"I shall use Eden's new suit today," she said, having been remotely wired in to the briefing that seemed to be wrapping up below; Aiko was privileged, but not so terrible an officer as to skip out on her captain. "My absence during the temple exploration left me without the experience. It would please me to see your enhanced body's performance as well, though I am sure it will show through a power armor's thick skin all the same."

William stood up a tad straighter at her reply. "Then forgive me for interrupting you, my lady." He said bowing his head. At her command, he followed dutifully behind her.

It was true... he was the long lost son of the sky marshal. He was hidden away as a baby to save him the fate that befell his poor mother. Even with the new revelation, he did not wish to leave the Princess's side.

He was broken from his reverie by Aiko's words. "Understood." Then at the mention of the temple mission, he nodded. "Yes, my lady, then I shall demonstrate my new power for you." He said, already releasing the restraints on his augmentations. This caused his strength augmentations to activate and increase his power two fold.

He pulled the hood of his jacket over his head and made sure his defensive systems were operational, before doing a final systems check. Everything was in order and ready to go by the time the two reached the hanger. He had not requisitioned a new power armor yet. He would need to let his father know. So for this mission, he would be going out with just his normal attire. Though his clothing was far from ordinary... His jacket contained a shield generator and was made of heavy duty ballistic fibers. And that's just scratching the surface of what it could do. "I am ready to depart once you are, my lady." He informed Aiko.

Mikael stayed largely silent. A small part of him was excited to explore an entirely new universe. But most of him was frankly annoyed with the whole endeavor and his face was clearly showing it. But orders are orders, so he is stuck in this backwater of an universe until he can devise a way to escape from it. In the mean time, who knows. Maybe he can cause the downfall of a kingdom and become God-Emperor of man.

He just listened to everyone else for the moment while he taught about more methods to avoid the princess and to which team he would be suited. He also thought about how to effectly do his SAINT duties as well.

♪Tsar - Band-Girls-Money♪

Up ahead, a grayish blur shot from the hangar like a bat out of hell. It hadn't even made it fifty yards beyond the door before it erratically curved straight up into the sky. The distant sounds of music could be heard from the Mindy's external speakers. About half a mile up, Gravity disengaged the suit's combined field and spread her arms wide like a bird. Her dizzying ascent began to slow, until the suit seemed to hang motionless in the sky. At the same time, she began to lean backwards. As if in slow motion, the Mindy began to sink back towards the ground, and Gravity completed her backflip, now pointed head-first at the surface of the planet.

Her heart raced as she felt the addicting adrenaline surge through her veins. "More!" her body screamed at her. "Faster! Faster!"

At two hundred feet and closing, she reengaged the combined field and raced towards the ground while arching backwards in order to level out. Once she did, she gunned the plasma engines.

"CATCH UP, SLOW-POKES! WOOOOOOO!" she yelled gleefully to the slowly-shuffling mob below as she buzzed not fifty feet above their heads at one-hundred seventy miles-per-hour and rising. She disappeared over the treeline after performing a corkscrew, strapped into a wearable fighter-jet, with a whole new world that needed exploring!

In the breifing area, the freshly promoted Itto Juni, patted Mark on the shoulder after his proud, detirmined proclamation, trying to suppres her giggle. "I know you're being honest and all, but you've got a real knack of overdramatizing things sometimes, Mark..... it's adorable~"

Nerai'tha Uithersh Theisilis, age 36, Systems and Safety monitor aboard the YSS Kaiyo II, now her family's second transdimensional traveller. (though they would probably never come to know it, sadly) While she's heard a few short words and murmurs regarding the first Kaiyo's trip through dimensional barriers, the actual story itself was still unknown to her, due to the same kind of secrecy she's sworn today in regards to this mission.

She had come to this place to accompany her newfound comrades on their next adventure. Even if some chose to stay behind, she knew that the Kaiyo was the best place for her to be. For how long? No-one knows. Like Hoshi-chusa said, that was entirely up to her choosing. Needless to say the thought of returning wasn't going to cross her mind anytime soon.

Regardless of what will happen from here on out, she wouldn't be alone. Aside from the precious Kaiyo crewmembers, her dearest little cousin, Abart'huse theisilis had come along for the ride, standing off to the side of the group. Oddly enough, he looked quite.....normal? Slightly dissapointed even. The memories from his last dimensional adventure rang in his mind, vividly recalling all that had transpired over in the familliar, yet ever more alien world of the IYS Kaiyo. Compared to all that, this place seemed way too normal, what a buzzkill!

In all honesty, the only reason Abart came along to this universe was to keep an eye out on Nerai. Even if she was older, higher ranked, and overall more experienced in life, her capacity of being a silly ditz was unmatched in the right occasions. Plus the rank up was nice. Travel dimensions, be promoted, get monies.

Without much else to say, the space noodles made their way to the PA-zone, each slipping into their suit of preference.
Nerai had come to like the Shibui quite a bit. The much lighter and more supple frame made wearing it a real delight, compared to a Mindy. Despite this she had taken some time to equip her Shibui with some light armaments, just to be safe. Her right shoulder hardpoint was adorned with a standard energy capacitor module. Extra heating required extra energy, so she was bringing plenty of it. the other shoulder had a weapon mount instaled on it, carrying a standard issue aether saber rifle.

Abart on the other hand picked out the Mindy, finding it's dense, sturdy frame more desireable in an alien environment such as this. He'd stacked his mindy with the usual forarm shield and waist mounted NSB's. However the mini missile launcher that would usually take up his right shoulder had been replaced with a basic weapon mount, so he could put his LASR-SLAG away when not needed, allowing for easier exploration. However, the good 'ol 50mm Gauss still held it's place on his left shoulder, being a powerful weapon that had proven itself useful in just about any situation.

Ass both snakes had finished their preperations, Nerai'tha stuck close to Mark and chlorate, whereas Abart immediately blasted off with a quick wave, rushing to zoom after Gravity-hei. "Who're ya callin a slowpoke!? Watch me!" A quick, yet powerful jump, as well as turbo plasma engines made the Separa shoot of at breakneck speed. While space fight was something he wasn't fond of at all, in-atmosphere flying was all the better.

Darwin hadn't even stripped all the way out of his uniform to put on his own armor by the time Gravity blasted by. Her tailwind had even caught up his jacket and sent it in a fluttering mass towards the entrance of the hangar. His arms would flail to catch it by the cuff, but leaving his pants at his ankles in the process. It mattered not at this point. Nobody was looking. Besides, soon he'll be swathe in the comforts of his Mindy, Shinka. Through the hole in its chest, he slides in feet-first, careful not to hold on to the shoulders and instead placing his hands in the armpits of the suit - thus allowing his arms to slide into the gloves of the power armor with ease. A satisfying hiss and a click is heard as the chest closes around him, as per his ritual, he takes a single breath before putting on the helmet, allowing the coziness of the suit to become a natural feeling. The final step: Donning the helmet. Upon which, it would detect the lack of a SPINE device and grant Darwin control to the internal computer via mental and optical transmission.

If there were any semblance of a deathly gaze to him before, it would have been cast away by now. A sense of triumph fills his chest and forces its way into his hands, balling them into fists. "Man, it's good to be back." the human hums, feeling his body elevating as the antigravity system comes online. The combined field system pulls him forward and eventually out of the hangar doors. He'd be passed by one of his Separa'Shan crewmates. In turn, he would laugh, looking over his shoulder at the others in the hangar. "So much for any chance of this being a coordinated effort."

He increases in altitude as though jumping, his boosters kicking to life only for a second but managing to fling him high above the dirt below, in a flash of teal, he's launched forward in the direction of Sifsdottir and Theisillis.

Care was naturally included within the groups that would take to the powered suits, be it the Mindy or the Shibui. Given the Shibui's lack of aptitude when compared with the literal fighter jet of a Mindy in flight, she assumed it would be the less popular option, but given its less suffocating design, it was naturally the one Care planned to adorn. In the hangar bay she adorned a set that matched her build, which was skin-tight against her smooth but segmented chassis. It practically hummed with advanced systems, weapons and defenses that she was almost afraid to consider lest she accidentally fire off without meaning to. It was the same with power armor, even with the advanced integration, something about having firepower and such raw potential at her fingertips was almost disconcerting.

Pomegranates.

She wouldn't pretend to know how such a plant would show up in such a distant place, whether naturally given some odd science or by a transplant by the many visitors from their home universe in the past. Either way, pomegranates, if they persisted, would have done so either because they thrived in new land or at least in new pockets, or would cease existence early on, unable to adapt to such a foreign place. Given the very tropical nature of their current planet however, it could be either one, simply because it looked like grass upon the earth did not mean the same genetic and biological makeup was the same.

The first question was not Are there pomegranates here? Rather, it was What environment does the plant thrive?

While her databases held information on the timeframes of tropical planets in which Pomegranates thrived, she found that such information was purely situational. It depended not only on time of year but the seasons of the planet, the temperature range of the planet, the axis spin, the location on the planet, too many variables, almost none of which she held for this planet. That left her with the knowledge of where they liked to grow.

Connecting her voice to the radio of others, her almost signature artificial hum to her feminine voice filled the transmissions they used to communicate.

"Trauma-Care here, Pomegranates are drought-resistant fruit, and tend to grow in places with low water count in natural environments. The plants they use are medium-sized shrubs, almost appearing as small trees consisting of twisting, small branches. Look for shrubs with thin and twisting limbs, the leaves barely hang. They are prone to root decay in wetter regions, so I doubt they'll grow near water sources."

Her suit fully donned, she chose to wait for Hoshi or her orders, checking over the systems of the suit.

Hoshi had skip-floated backwards towards the hangar to be able to watch the group from her place in the front. Eden hung back and looked to the crew around her and was, in truth, thinking about which of the newly ranked up crew she could play matchmaker with in the coming time on Ayenee. After she had suited up in her Shibui with its helmet on her blue and white-haired head, Hoshi noticed the distant stare of the XO and then looked around to see a more focused one from Care.

"You may depart or team up with others at any time, Care-hei. Alternatively, you can pick myself as your flying companion," the little Captain said while she stretched an arm. "Which I wouldn't mind in any way, shape, or form."

The synthetics eyes lit with with their glowing hue, whether it was because she was addressed or because of the statement was up to debate, but either way the shifting of her facial plates to a contented smile said that she was quite happy with being spoken to.with a few clicks her eyes scanned the others in similar suits, facial plates giving away a momentary discomfort. "I think... I would prefer to accompany you, Hoshi-chusa." The smile given was aided by the artificial tones of her voice, though they were laced with a distinct layer of admiration, like a school girl addressing someone she looked up to.

Given her demeanor and the almost idol-like way she spoke to Hoshi, it was clear there was more she wanted to say. But stricken by the mission, however minor, it was pushed back without further pause. Taking flight in the suit, it seemed she expected Hoshi to take charge of their direction and course, as she hardly strayed. She did, however, take a moment to familiarize herself with the movement of the suit in action before making it far off the ground. "I-" she paused, turning to Hoshi once more. "Thank you, Hoshi-chusa."

Seeing the rest of their crew take off or prepare to do so Miles and Shasse had also begun getting into their respective mindy suits with the small blue neko racing ahead of the minkan who was lost in thought as he slipped into the armour in an automatic fashion.

"C'mon hurry up, you heard Gravity you're just a big slowpoke Miles, don't make me drag you out of here!"
"Why are you so worried, you can just take off whenever you want to, im quite happy to relax and take my time for once thank you very much." Miles fitted his helmet then crossed his arms to make a point of not wanting to rush as Shasse hovered around him in a circle having suited up a few minutes ago. In a not so graceful way she swooped down and hooked her arms under his lifting him into the air and speeding out of the hangar.
"That's exactly why you gotta go faster you bookworm, it's time to prove you are a real man, and you know your brothers would say the same thing if they could stop looking in the mirror for a few minutes."
"Someone help she's gone crazy and kidnapped me awahh!" Miles flailed as he was swept up and out towards the forest with Shasse laughing the whole way.

The fox boy had quickly undressed and was already halfway into the suit of armor, as Gravity shot out of the hangar. Both her actions and her words reminded him that he should speed up, and so he did, just like he was thought to do during basic training. He was already almost fully dressed and had his helmet on already, just doing the finishing touches to make sure his equipment was secured against his armor... when he heard Care's explaination of what Pomegranates were and where to look at them.

Within an instant, Katsu worked much slower. Suddenly he wasn't in a rush anymore to get everything strapped up and be ready, instead he just lazily reached out for his gun and took it with both hands, stepping away and towards the hangar doors, before he perked up again as he got an idea. So he talked on the radio to ask the others "What are the chances that the Pomegranates here are able to explode in a lethal fireball, or that they can breath fire?" As he talked, he activated the Sylph wing pack on his back and lifted off to race after Gravity, quickly accelerating in an attempt to catch up with her.

Mikael prefered the suit to the mindy since the armor was biased towards nekos, you'd think they would make a model suited for the male body since just about every other species as their own version. He just shrugs at the notion eventually as he slides into his armor. At least it kept him away from the princess and her entourage.

He watches as he determines who else is on the team. Mikael was never known for being a talker, but the trip made him even less so for the time being.

There weren't words anymore to place on the complexity of emotions that seemed to go on in ever crew member, herself included. Nora was indeed no exception to the chaotic swirl of emotions that came with making the hard decision to create a copy of herself and send it back off into the world with it's false sense that she was the original and the only Nora around. Others had decided to let their clones in on the secret while some like her had not, and the thought that maybe she had made an irreversible mistake kept her up at night. She was thankful for the fact that they had enough supplies and space to allow them all to have their own tent. There were many times that she soiled her pillow in salty tears and snot and that wasn't something anyone else needed to know had happened, everyone had burdens right now, and she was to shoulder them alone.

With puffy, dark lined eyes from another night of regretful tears and lack of sleep, she takes herself to the main tent where everyone was supposed to meet and allegedly have all their questions answered. The short daur stayed nearer to the back, behind almost a barrier of people taller than her. But the Chusa's voice carried well from her years of commanding, and she knew how to project it for all to hear.

When the idea to search for pomegranates came up, she had dismissed it as something she needn't worry about. That is, until the Chusa suddely made it their goal for the next two hours. This immediately made the daur's neautral expression turn into a deep frown, eyebrows coming so low they made a shelf over her eyes. 'A hunt...for a fruit.' the daur thought as she raised her hand to her face, massaging her forehead as her palm covered her eyes. Really, she only did this to cover her eyes, fore just then her shoulders started to break, blood rushing to her eyes making them sting with fresh tears that welled up quickly. She would take a few deep, shakey breaths as she steadied herself, slowly becoming one of the last remaining of the crew still in the room. A bitter thought spun in her head and danced on her tongue, one she wished she could cry out and raise to attention. 'I leave my home galaxy, not just home world but galaxy, to come out here and we search for a FRUIT?!' She quickly bats at the tears that had spilled over her lids. God this was so unprofessional, she needed to get it together. She needed to...

With a heavy sigh, she would drop her hand away from her face and step after the others, trailing several feet behind as she was still making sure any remaining tears were quickly whipped away off her cheeks and make sure none of the salty solution stains or mats the peach fuzz fur that covers her skin.

Hangar

Once into the hangar, herself, the choice on which suit she would be using was simple. The mindy she had been loaned the first day she had joined onto the Kaiyo had not seen enough of her for her to feel like she had yet claimed it as her own. It bore the same name the mindy she had used in basic training had born. "Kishi.." the daur would let the name slip from her lips as her eyes landed on the mindy that was no doubt her own. The name was more so after the load out as apposed to the actual mindy itself. Kishi, which translates into Knight, was a name that had been given to her mindy by a fellow trainee during her time in basic. The name had stuck from then on and at this point carried too much sentimental value not to use.

By the time she had stripped from her clothes and carefully climbed her way into the suit, the hanger seemed rather empty with of bodies as well as suits. With a lost look around, Nora would pull on her helmet and listen to the click of it locking into place. She would watch as the inside face of the mindy helmet would blink to life, giving her a clear view of what was in front of her even though she was actually looking at an image from a camera on the face of her mindy. Huds on the edges of the visible screen would blink to life, giving valuable system information. She was ready to go now. Hey, maybe this would help left her spirits?

With that, she steps back and lets the anti-gravity systems of the mindy lift the heavy armor first off of her and then lift the suit off the ground entirely as if in empty space. But this wasn't exactly empty space, there was still an atmosphere to consider and drag to calculate. But that was to be calculated all by the mindy's crazy amazing super computer. The daur would float her way out of the hanger before seemingly kicking off the air itself, suddenly rocketting into the blue sky. She couldn't feel the air on her skin, but she could feel her blood drain to her feet and her stomach drop into her ass. But her heart would leap into her throat with both excitement and terror, the air resistance making the mindy shake as she started to slow and arc. Just as the arc was about to round off and start her on a decent, she would cut on the wings at the back of her mindy, a comforting hum responding back from them as they carried her soaring through the air after the others, who all seemed to be following gravity's lead, the pomegranate girl. It was hard to stay mad now that she was up here in the sky, giving her a new perspective on the world in more ways than one.

Sacre headed for her Mindy, it had much better sensor capabilities, especially when combined with her medical scanners. With any luck, she would be able to reconfigure them to find Pomegranates. It was slightly nonsensical, but Sacre bore it dutifully. Sacre noted what care said, and had a thought about how she might find one of them first. Unlike the others, who could only teleport a hundred kilometers or so in a jump, she had a teleportation unit as part of her equipment. That gave her an idea.

"Anyone stupid enough to come with me on a field trip?" She asked.

North

Those going North, like Eden, were going towards a crest of mountains that pushed forth from a towering redwood forest of megolithic trees. The mountains held inky slate clouds above them.

West

Those going to the West would notice the plains become encroached on by a forest of low draping trees. Beyond that, the crown of an ocean could be seen if at high enough of an altitude.

East

The Memorial City loomed. Desaturated and seemingly many-hued buildings made up the non-standard architectural feats' exteriors in the city. There was a look of movement within it even from a distance.

South

There were several bays and inlets in which unknown castles could barely be seen dotting the coast. Hoshi headed this way.

"Time to kick it up a notch!" Darwin chimes, turning up the speed of his back-mounted Turbo Aether Plasma Engines, whizzing forward, occasionally swooping down just shy of the treetops, arms outstretched like a bird for a moment before bringing them in. Immediately, his power armor's speed increases with the added aerodynamics, but he forces himself to push upwards to avoid losing control and plummeting into the forest, potentially hurting himself.

And as much as he loves the feeling of speeding about within the suit, pushing it may prove risky given the amount of resources are on hand. A broken booster could be fatal for the power armor or - even worse - the user.

Best not think about that. He shakes his head for a second, turning his gaze to the swathe of trees, like a wall around the massive grey and white masses of stone behind them. On second glance, it was less like a wall, and more like a series of guardians barring any and all from entering... or maybe exiting. It came across to him as strangely ominous but... vaguely beautiful. He lets a breath flow in and out of his lungs, taking into account the tightness of the Mindy armor. Finding it almost relaxing. "so this is the world we live in now, huh?" He blurts out. "Gotta say. Could have been worse picks out there. At least this place is pretty. Even with foreboding-looking clouds."
