Ahlias eyes the goblin up and turns to his companions. "I don't think this is going to be free..."

Perhaps one of the other, more able-mouthed individuals could talk some sense into this goblin.

Ahlias turns to the creature and smiles as best he can, "Let me ask my friends what they think about your generous offer!"

Alo

Alo stroked his chin and thought about this for a moment. If this goblin was the person they needed to ask, then they would need to get the information, and 60 crowns was not alot of gold.

"It is only six sovereigns. I have found more than that in a gutter. We should make certain that he does not keep asking for more gold though." He said to Ahlias in a hushed tone.

Rat's Market

Looking between Alo and Ahlias, and the rest, the goblin continues. "Maybe you could use this fine woolen blanket? Only thirty-nine coppers. Theres only a hint of mildew. Or how about this skewer of broiled rat-meat? For you, just five silver. Or perhaps if I could point out directions, what would it be worth to fine adventurers, such as yourselves? One hundred silver?"

Ahlias turns back to the goblin and smiles.

"100 Silvers for directions? Nay, my friend, I'm afraid it isn't that important, but it does get cold in these sewers. How about you give me that blanket? I'll give you an entire Galifar for that and the way to the lower levels."

Ahlias smiles and produces a gold coin. He was running low, he couldn't raise payment much higher than that.

Diplomacy: 6 Diplomacy (1d20-1=6)

{OOC: Lets have whoever has the highest Diplomacy modifier make the check for the entire group. Give yourself a +4 bonus because Ahlias made a purchase. This particular goblin likes repeat business, and is easier to sway if you are a paying customer.}

Rat's Market

The goblin takes the coin and bites it to make sure its real, and then hands Ahlias the blanket with a broad grin. "I can see that you have an eye for high-quality goods. Where is it that you needed directions to?" The blanket definitely smells of mildew.

Amnile
HP 9/9
AC 13

Amnile flinches as he watches them spend an entire gold on a mildew blanket. I hope the 'Directions' were more useful.

Gorfan
HP: 10/10
AC:14 (VT:10, FF:14)

The dwarf looks upon the purchase made by Ahlias with a dubious expression upon his visage. One Galifar for a mildew blanket and directions? Gorfan could go without a blanket, as he had his bedroll handy.

Rat's Market

The goblin smiles and says "Skakan is always happy to help a repeat customer.

For you, I'll give you a special price. Only 70 Sovereigns(Silvers), and Skakan will show you the path down."

Apparently, Alo's charming words and the previous purchase were enough to convince Skakan to lower the price by 30%.

Hangin' back...

Kyru
HP:7/7
AC:16 (FF:12, T:14)

Kyru had been lost in his own thoughts ever since they left the Inn. He just couldn't shake this feeling of paranoia that the party had involved itself in some problematic adventure that was likely to get one (or all of them) killed.

And for what? A lousy thousand Galifars? No life is worth such a paltry sum. Still, he went through the motions, taciturnly following them through the Rats Market. He probably could've smoothed the negotiations with Skakan, seeing as how he actually spoke Goblin, but he felt it best to be a fly on the wall this time and stay aware of his surroundings.

(Rat Market Spot & Listen checks. (1d20+4=9, 1d20+4=13))

Hearing the price of the information, Kyru took 10 Galifars from somewhere inside his cloak and presented them to Skakan. He smiled at handing the Goblin his original asking price and said quietly, in Goblin, "If anyone should happen to ask if you showed any pale-skins around the sewers...?" He left the question open-ended.

Skakan

The Galifars dissapear into Skakan's pocket and he says "Sewers? What sewers? There are no sewers around here." He says with a sly grin in reply to the rogue's open-ended question.

Lowering his voice, he says "There is a hidden stairwell 20 paces north behind a garbage heap. Follow it to Valve Cluster E-213. You'll find the entrance to the lower levels there."

Gorfan
HP: 10/10
AC:14 (VT:10, FF:14)

Gorfan looked on in some amusement at the changeling's question...lodestone indeed! His senses must be indeed befuddled if he is asking for a lodestone!

"Thanks for your aid Skakan, it is much appreciated" Gorfan directed at the goblin before turning to his companions questioningly.

"It is time that we were moving on now...come on lads!"

Sewer Level

Leaving the Rat's Market, you find the stairwell that Skakan spoke of. Whether the information was worth the price or not, it does seem as though he was telling the truth.

However, the stairwell is only large enough for single-file movement. The group needs to decide who will go first?

{OOC: Marching order, please? first through fifth.}

Gorfan
HP: 10/10
AC:14 (VT:10, FF:14)

Gorfan leads the party down the narrow stairwell....the goblin had been telling the truth after all, and wasn't some scheme to rob them of a few Galifars.

(( Gorfan is first in line))

Amnile

HP 9/9
AC 13

Amnile follows Gorfan making him second. Because of the dwarf's height his view is unobstructed. Amnlie carries a single lit torch for lighting in his hand holstering his staff on his back.(over the shoulder)

(I'll take second. Is the sewers dark enough to need a torch?)

{OOC: Yes, a torch would be useful, for those without dark or low-light vision. There is enough ambient light to see shadowy vision, but not enough for clear vision without the torch.}

Alo
HP: 7/7
AC: 11 (ff:10, vt:11)

Alo would let the warriors of the party go first, then Kyru, and finally he would bring up the rear. He just hoped no-one would come down after them.
