Osgood Smithy

"My pleasure, Fortus. Please, come again." He gives you the goods, as well as a hearty handshake and a slap on the back.

Fortus

Fortus accepts the masterwork weaponsmithing tools with a smile and returns his comradely handshake and leaves the shop. The artificer makes his way back to the abandoned mining office...namely where he and his companions had made camp. Sniffing the air intently, Fortus knew that Mohan or someone had something cooking which had his mouth watering...even more so after his tilt with the 'miners milk' earlier on at Tidwoads. Fortus waved to his companions and entered the conversation that they were engaging in while helping with cleaning away the debris in the abandoned office.

"The time that I spent with Allustan since before I can remember was rewarding and interesting with all the texts that I studied on arcane lore and its uses as well as learning the art of discerning traps and weaponsmithing....but the possibility of venturing beyond Diamond Lake always intrigued me, and not to mention discovering the remnants of treasure within those cairns as well" Fortus then joined Slade and Hazrad as he continued, this time to Slade," the times I spent repairing you Slade reminded me much of the stories Allustan used to tell me of birthplace Cyre and the warforged that now roam its barren expanse...yet your sense of purpose revolving around battle brought about a sense of respect from myself due to you protecting those that are helpless and innocent, and for that I believe that our further adventures will continue to benefit from your battle-focus and your intent to protect others from evil doings"

Slade

"I'm sure you will be an asset to us during this journey Hazrad. Only diligent effort will allow us to achieve our goals and I will protect you all with the help of the Silver Flame."

He had finished much of his work and the food that was cooking did nothing to appeal to him. Such were the advantages perhaps of not having to eat.

As Fortus spoke his piece, Slade immediately and quite efficiently interjected. "Let us rely on one another as we have done in the past Fortus. Your willingness to repair the damage to this body of mine has surely strengthened our ties with one another comrade. If it is allowed, I hope our journeys only further cement them from here on out"

Fortus

Fortus nodded and replied,"Indeed our ties will be further strengthened during the course of our coming adventures so you can have no fear of that..."

As the artificer continued to help clear the debris away the smell of the food cooking was getting better and better to him. All except the warforged of course, but he figured that he'd still join them by the fire at any rate.

Hazrad

The smell of the food was delightful, but he had to wonder just where Jaiden was. He hoped she had not run into any trouble while in town. That could put a sour note on this moment.
Slowly stretching, he looked back to Slade and nodded. Things were stirring now it seemed, and the possibilities of a dull, meager existence in Diamond Lake felt like it was beginning to fade. He wanted out of this place...but that could take some time...

Slade

Fortus had perhaps forgotten that he was not too fond of fire nor did he care about it much. Given that, however, he did position himself close enough to remain near the group that would be joining together to eat whatever Mohan was making. Mohan would no doubt have some kind of plan to discuss for the next day within that cairn.

Jaiden

The smell was most welcoming, reminding her of living without restraints and in the freedom of the outdoors. She nodded to the greeter, and with a long sweep of her eyes over the items in the shop she replied, "do you, by any chance, do specialized work? I'm looking to increase the capacity of a weapon that I have."

Venelle's

The lady says "Anything I can't craft for you, I can send to Sharn for. Will take a couple days to deliver, but I'm sure I can find you something you would like."

Fortus

Fortus continued on with the clearing of the debris with Slade and Hazrad thoughtfully. During the course of his musings it occurred to him that warforged did not have a great fondness of fire. He lightly shrugged at this while working and wondered where the barbarian Jaiden had gotten to. In the meantime however, food in the pot was cooking under the supervision of Mohan and Jaiden would seemingly need to hurry to be in time for its serving.

Jaiden notices that it is getting close to dark. She'll need to leave soon tomake it back to the office before dark. Of course, she can see in moon and starlight so she may not be concerned.

back at the house, Mohan's dinner is ready.

Fortus

Fortus looked on approvingly at the dinner which Mohan was overseeing...by the looks of its contents it was well nigh finished. The prospect of a hot meal was appealling enough, but the fact that he was about to share it with his companions that would accompany him on further adventures made it even better. As he went about finishing the debris cleaning for the day, Fortus turned to Mohan while back in the house

"That dinner looks very appetising...is it near ready?"

Mohan

"Yes. I think so." Mohan moved the rabbit away from the fire. Due to the lack of cookware, he'd roasted it on a strick over the fire. He tore it into three and handed a portion each to his companions. Then supplemented his own share with some hard bread and cheese from his pack.

"Jaiden must be leaving Diamond Lake soon, or she will not be here by nightfall."

Jaiden

Rapping her fingers in thought, she un-wielded her axe and lay it on the counter top. "What can you do to improve this?"

Venelle's

Venelle examines the axe. "Hmm... its an average axe. To be honest, you wouldn't be able to do much to improve it beyond sharpening it. Even if you had someone who could add some magical powers to it, they wouldn't be able to because its not high enough quality.

However, I've got an alternative here that you might be interested in."

She heads over to one of the counter tops and rumages around in the pile before pulling out an axe that looks very similar to yours, but it is clearly of a higher quality. "Now, this guys here, he can chop down an oak tree in two swings, if you've got the muscle to handle it."

She offers the axe to you, and you can feel by the heft that it is solidly made.

{OOC: Masterwork Great Axe, costs 170 GP. Provides a +1 bonus to Attack rolls. Can be further enchanted with permenant magic.}

Jaiden

She shook her head, "Unfortunately, at this time, I am unable to pay that amount, but I will return later."

Venelle's

"I understand. If you haven't thought about it yet, you might consider taking out a loan from old Tidwoad. Otherwise, feel free to come back when you are ready."

Jaiden

She was happy to know that there was a stronger option than what she already had, but saddened that she hadn't the cash available. Would it have been a wiser thing to keep her monies and not purchase items from the store? She would need a few supplies, of that she knew. Keeping an eye on the sunset, she headed toward the general store.

General Store

Running a successful business in Diamond Lake means avoiding entanglements with the constantly maneuvering mine managers and scrupulously avoiding favoritism, either real or perceived. No merchant better understands this reality than Taggin, the amiable master of the town's largest general store. Tables line the walls within, stacked high with rope coils, lanterns, bottles, gloves, and gear. Wagon wheels rest against barrels filled with nails or candles.

Taggin is just shy of middle age, but dresses somewhat stylishly for his class. He has a handlebar mustache and full receding blond hair. He gives you an appraising eye as you enter. "Good evening, miss. Jaiden isn't it? I've seen you around town. Welcome."

Fortus

Fortus once again wondered at the barbarian's whereabouts. The artificer knew that Jaiden had a reputation for provoking or getting into skirmishes from time to time through stories he had heard through off-duty miners passing by Allustan's residence in times past.

"Indeed, she is taking her time," Fortus agreed while munching on a rabbit leg along with some hard cheese he found within his pack," but whatever errands she's running she'll be back in due course...I hope"

Jaiden

She immediately liked the man that welcomed her. "Yes, and I have heard that you are called Taggin? Is it?" She looked about the store before offering a handshake to the man. "It's been quite some time since I've traveled, and I'm set to do so shortly, what would you recommend that I take with me?"
