Serenity

Her hard-tongued, strong nature came from a long history of constantly being trampled down, laughed at, and mocked when she was at a much younger age. She was a fierce warrior and with a hard-shelled exterior, and didn't accept anybody's insults. She'd deserved respect, of that she was certain.

The benefits that lay ahead were extreme. Beyond the sweetness of money came the advantage of fighting. It would hone her skills and ensure that she didn't grow weaker in any aspect. As people began to filter for the door she's already made up her mind. But it was her decision, mind you...no one else's. She stepped forth just behind Phaeder, and without a word to anyone had voluntarily fallen into this 'group.' Perhaps it wouldn't be as horrid as she thought. Her intolerance wouldn't be to the ranger, nor the elven breed, but solely to one person who didn't even know that he was being loathed - the sorcerer. It wasn't because of a past encounter with the man, but solely because of his kind. She deemed it worthwhile to keep her distance from him. The best thing that could happen was that he would falter in his spells and need her help...and die at her feet. What could be better than seeking revenge for one who had wronged her? It didn't matter to her that it wasn't this specific person, but just one of his kind.

With hidden thoughts rampaging like a storm in her mind, she stepped outside and was instantly greeted with the chill of air.

Sennoth

"Well we could buy some scrolls or potions to take with us. Things that may come in handy on our treck through the woods." Sennoth said as he followed the ranger out of the inn.

Phaeder

His mind was determined to get this job done and with that focus, he searched around the area for these lumberjacks, addressing Sennoth after his suggestion while he continued.

"Feel free to purchase a few potions for our benefit and a few scrolls for yourself if you desire. If its alright with the rest of the group, I would assume we might need such items for the trip ahead."

He continued to walk though, not bothering to look for a store to buy such things but figuring they'd find one along the way. Where were these lumberjacks?

Garrick

The town's shopping venues are limited, but there is a general store, which seems to have a wide variety of goods, including foodstuffs, tools, farming utilities, and a mishmash of other products. There is also a wilderness outfitters, which sells tents, bedrolls, fishing gear, and other related items. There is a blacksmith, a tanner, and a handful of carpenters, who sell their products as well. There doesn't seem to be a magic shop around, although there is a church to Obad-Hai at the south end of town, just on the outskirts of the forest.

Your search for a single or group of lumberjacks comes up empty handed. Of course, after a moment's thought, you might realize that at this time of the day, they are all probably inside the forest already, hard at work. You would either have to leave the town to seek them out, or wait till they return to question them.

Phaeder

While they stood infront of the general store, he assumed Sennoth would be kind enough to make any purchases barring any objection from anyone else which was doubtful since no one seemed bent on spending the advance for supplies. The lumberjacks were no doubt already making use of their trade which left him and his group with a quick decision to make.

"If we are to ask anything of these lumberjacks, it would seem we would have to search for them ourselves in the forest. I doubt we will be returning here afterward. Is everyone ready?"

Enos Empra

Enos followed along at the back of thier little party his eyes open looking around for anyone who seemed distraught or worried, often times even if the lumberjacks were well out to lunch as the saying goes they would have conveyed thier stories to someone else. Hearing the sorcerer and the Ranger talk he continued to follow them as they walked about before he spoke " That tavern seemed off " he said calmly his eyes drifting around the shops. He couldn't be sure but he could assume that if they were to find someone who knew what was going on in the forest they may need to hold on to some spare coin.

Ashina trailed along with the others, letting the elf and the mage take the lead. She was content, for the moment, to let the others lead the way. She was rather pleased, considering that a small pouch containing no less than 100 gold was strapped to her waist. She could almost hear the tinkling of the coins brushing one another as the pouch bounced up and down to the rhythm of her movements. Now to find those pesky lumberjacks.

{OOC: Sorry for mispelled words, something not making sense, etc. Expect more pointless rambling and mispelling for at least another week.}

Garrick

As you stand about, debating your next action, you are interrupted by a high-pitched scream. "AIEEEEE!!!"

Just down the a road a young woman comes running out from behind a building, a look of terror on her face. Hot on her heels is a big wolf. Possibly one of the biggest wolves you've seen. His fur shows signs of mange, and there is slobber and drool dripping from his crooked teeth, which snap at the ankles of the woman. She climbs through a loose board in a fenced porch, and the wolf appears to be too large to squeeze in after her, although he's trying to force his head through to get a hold of her. Seeing you she starts crying "Help! Please, help me!"

As she pleads with you, you can see two more wolves, neither of which looks as big and mean as the other, come around the corner. They both also have the same foaming effect around the mouth as the big guy. They appear to be fighting with eachother at first, but then they notice you, and they forget about whatever squabble they were having and start to approach you...

Serenity
HP = 13
AC = 15

While the others seemed focused on handling the smaller enemies in the group, her target was always on the largest, and as such she moved towards the largest of the three (#2) while unsheathing her Halberd. With one swipe her intention is to slit the throat deep enough that not only are the arteries severed, but any chance of breath had also been wiped out.

Two Handed Melee vs Largest Wolf (1d20+4 = 16); Damage Roll (1d10+3+1 = 12)

(OOC. On the damage roll, because it's a two-handed weapon that's being used with both hands, the damage is 1d10 + STR Modifier + 1/2 STR Modifier (rounded down))

Ashina

HP: 7
AC: 17

As the others prepared their attacks and got into their general position, Ashina reached behind her with her right hand, grabbing the crossbow strapped to her back. Falling to one knee, she used her right hand to aim, her left pointer finger on the trigger. She released the trigger allowing the arrow to fly forth in the direction of the large wolf's head, aiming directly between his eyes.

Attack (1d20+5=25)
Damage (1d6=3)

Critical Hit Confirmation Attack (1d20+5=7)

Round 1
Concluded

Phaeder draws his bow and fires a hasty shot that goes wide of the mark.

Enos, having no ranged weapon, charges forward, filling both hands with steel as he moves. As soon as hes in range, he strikes. The first rapier scores a hit, and leaves a long thin trail of red in the larger wolf's hide. However, the second rapier only slices of a bit of fur, causing no damage.

Sennoth, fearing to get too close to the wolves, draws his own bow and fires. His hand is not as steady as he would've liked though, and his shot also strikes the dirt instead of its intended target.

Ashina, however, has much better luck than her larger companions. Kneeling for stability, she takes careful aim, cautious not to hit her companion. She is unable to target the creature's head, for a kill shot, but she finds a nice meaty spot in its flank, and receives a satisfying yelp of pain from the beast as a reward for her shot.

The wolf turns towards Enos, and counterattacks, baring its fangs and taking a bite at the Paladin. The wolf's jaws snap shut as he tries to bite Enos, but fortunately, the thick scaled armor he wears protects him from damage.

The other two wolves move foward with alarming speed, and instantly, the first(3) is upon Phaeder, snapping his fangs at the Ranger. The wolf gets a lucky attack and Phaeder can feel the sharp teeth digging into his thigh. (2 dmg) With a firm grip on Phaeder, the wolf tries to bring the ranger to the ground. {OOC: Make either a STR check or a DEX check... whichever you feel better about. If you get higher than 17, you are ok. Otherwise, you are dragged down into a prone position by the wolf.}

The last wolf (4) advances on Serenity, who hasn't even reacted to the battle yet, but his bite misses the mark completely, and he tastes nothing but empty air.

Serenity, possibly startled into action by the sudden advance of the wolves, leaves the two weaker ones behind and strides forward to join Enos in attacking the larger beast. She maneuvers just to the side and back of Enos, and lunges her Halberd forward, slicing deep into the ribs of the overgrown wolf, and wetting her blade with blood. The wolf wobbles, and looks like he can barely stand after taking this much punishment.
