Ahlias grunts and turns quickly, and when he does, his Greatsword knocks into a dusty bookshelf with a resounding THWACK. Then something occurs to him.

"Hold on..."

The warrior grabs the bookshelf and places it on its face, the backside up. He then moves to grab another and stack it atop the first.

"Help me!"

Ahlias

There are two shelves which are undamaged and sturdy enough to support your weight, although probably only one at a time. They are roughly 10x3x1 in dimension. Laying down flat, they reach a height of about 1 foot off the ground each. Stacking them atop eachother will get you 2 ft off the ground... Ya know... As opposed to 10 ft by keeping them vertical... It becomes clear to everyone here why Ahlias is a fighter instead of a wizard by this display.

Gorfan

Gorfan knew indeed that a better way was to be found...but actually finding their way out was easier said than done in any case. The dwarf for some moments gazed blankly at Alhias' efforts to stack the bookcases found by the foundry's southern wall. Then he smiled and nodded slightly...

He wondered how they might be stacked and how far they would extend to the ceiling...that would be a challenge.

{OOC: So, we have Ahlias stacking a pair of bookshelves flatly, Gorfan scratching himself in deep thought, Soryn picking his nose, and Alo wanting to take a nap... Do I have it right? Please, correct me if I've mistaken someone's actions.}

Alo

"perhaps if you could put one atop the other, and line them up by the hole, you could climb them like a ladder"

Soryn

{OOC - Will correct you Mr. SJ}

This rogue watched as Ahlias began using brute strength to attempt to solve this issue. The walls were far too thick to attempt to break through, the door held an advanced lock that had him intrigued honestly, and the hole above them seemed too high even for the warrior's antics to reach without some sort of possibility of pain. The dilemma was obvious, but he simply moved over to the door and leant against it in a small display of surrender on his part for now.

Alo

Alo started to push one of the bookshelves upright, and then drag it under the opening in the roof. "I would appreciate some help with this, its heavy."

Alo

The top of the bookshelf is 10' from the opening.

{OOC: With the new situation...

Unless someone holds the bookshelf for stability, a DC 7 balance check is needed to stand on the top.

To jump the remaining 2 ft from the bookshelf is DC 16. It would be half but there will be no running start.

Once there, you still need to make the DC 15 climb check to pull yourself up onto the roof.}

Soryn

{OOC - Not fully getting the distance calculation there of the remaining 2 feet. How is it just two feet after this?}

He was not too keen on going through with the suggestion offered but as the wizard asked for help, he moved over to assist him, aiming to set up the shelves as intended.

Gorfan

The dwarf assisted Alo and Soryn with bracing the two bookshelves for stability. The distance needed to jump from the top of the two shelves would test him though.

Soryn

The completion of it all would prompt this rogue to immediately nominate who would be attempting such a feat. Since the warrior seemed so willing to do anything, Soryn spoke rather bluntly "I believe you should have a go at it" The warrior seemed like the best bet for such a risky stunt.

Gorfan

The cleric took stock of what they had done...the shelves were back to back and braced against each other in this way. Gorfan hoped that this set-up would be stable enough.

"Is this stable enough do you think?" Gorfan inquired, directing his inquiry at the rest of the party.

With the bookshelves back to back, the standing surface is twice as large and the balance check is reduced to a mere DC 3. Of course, as before, if someone on the floor holds the shelves to steady them, the Balance check completely goes away. The remaining Jump/Climb check still are in effect.

Ahlias moved to hold the things steady while the others managed to climb up and get out. He was the strongest, clearly, and the most capable of jumping without help.

"It's clear, go on up...", the warrior said after all was set. His greatsword was on his back, and his back was strapped across the opposite shoulder.

Soryn

The idea that had been assumed was for one single person to reach the roof to obtain the rope that they had left behind outside of this foundry. For the warrior to assume anything else had this rogue wondering what their intent had been all along. He quickly offered a retort..."I was under the impression you would be first...to obtain the rope we left out there" He spoke directly with Ahlias on this one, occasionally glancing toward the cleric and the wizard to see if they had assumed that as well.

"We would need magic to get the rope. This way we can all get out and get back to the surface faster. Should I go first?"

Gorfan

Gorfan knew that they could send the rogue up to get the rope for his agileness, but since they were in need of magic for the rope then the wizard was well-versed for the task at hand.

"I would have little trouble with you ascending first my friend," Gorfan said gruffly," I'll help brace the bookshelves so to make balancing on them somewhat easier for your jump for the hole" With this, the cleric made as if to brace the two bookshelves together...

Alo misses when he tries to grab the lip of the hole in the ceiling. He lands without taking any damage.

{OOC: No damage for a 10 ft fall on an intentional jump.}
