Phaeder

With how beat up he had already been, that hit from the bird was not helping at all. He did not dare move closer now, actually backing away at this point and speaking a bit louder. "Wake up Pacoth"

Phaeder

He must've looked like he had been through hell. At least that might help him explain that he was here to help. "My name is Phaeder...my group has come here in search of you. Mr. Burrfoot seemed worried."

Sennoth

"Well then, its just you and I then" he said to the render. "Can you keep an eye on them. I'll have a quick check over this doppleganger here."

Sennoth walked over to the fallen former fake druid and started to search it.

((Taking 20; 21))

Phaeder

"Well make sure your friend there doesn't decide to defend you again. I'm not faring well already."

If all was well, he'd move to untie Pacoth and help her get situated so they could leave.

Sennoth

1 Scimitar, well crafted
1 robe
1 sack
1 ring
1 amulet

Sack contents:
40 Platinum pieces
100 Gold Pieces
2 vials filled w/ amber liquid.

Phaeder

The druid nudges her bird and it squawks, but as Phaeder approaches, he doesn't get attacked again. He unties the ropes and the druid stands up. "Thank you, sir. I am Pacoth. Perhaps I can help with your wounds?"

Phaeder

"That would help immensely. Perhaps you can also help my companions outside who are in far worse shape."

He was serious through the whole ordeal and would wait to see what Pacoth would do. Once any healing was done or whatever it was the druid desired, he'd begin to move out of the cave to head back to the group.

"We should get going. Who knows what else can show up. I'm sure Mr. Burrfoot would love to see you are safe"

{OOC: I am going to fast-track this a little bit. I don't think anyone will mind, so tell me if anyone objects to the actions I'm assuming you take.}

Pacoth says "Perhaps I should save my powers for them then. I don't have many healing spells available."

She follows him to the group and agrees to go see Mr. Burrfoot. Once they meet up with Sennoth, she uses her abilities to cure Kilral back to a state of functioning consciousness. Although he almost attacks Pacoth, Phaeder quickly intervenes and explains what happened while Kilral was unconscious. He identifies the potions that Sennoth found on the fake druid as healing potions and uses them to get Serenity back to a functioning condition as well, and the situation is explained to her as well.

On the way back to town, Pacoth explains that the Doppleganger had abducted her, and was keeping her alive to read her mind and become a more convincing copy of her. He would have eventually killed her. However, in the past few days, the Doppleganger stopped showing up. Pacoth was worried that she had been forgotten, or simply left to starve to death.

She is concerned about the well-being of the forest since she's been absent and asks you some questions about the state of things. She is very interested in the render, and offers Serenity some advice in how to better work with the beast.

{OOC: I'll stop here to give everyone a chance to post some kind of interaction with Pacoth, if they so choose. Once everyone has posted and is ready, I'll move us forward to the next, and final scene.}

Phaeder

Phaeder did not mind having to wait to heal himself as the other two had taken far worse damage. If it had not been for the cleric, he probably wouldn't have been standing here at all. As Pacoth explained everything, he solidified how genuine she was with her concern for nature. That mutual concern caused an easy bond though he did not talk much during the trip back as he was making sure tracks were in place and they were moving in the right direction.

He consulted with Sennoth about the items found on the doppelganger and asked nicely for the scimitar but not much else. As soon as they got back in town, he simply moved toward Pacoth and spoke "No time to waste now...Mr. Burrfoot should be waiting"

Sennoth

Sennoth gave Phaeder the scimitar, and carried the rest of the mosters possesions in his rucksack. They could divvy them up later.

"Quite an adventure. We really mustn't do this again." Sennoth said. "Oh, have you any idea what these are", he showed her the wooden rod and the elixer.

Pacoth

"The wooden rod is a wand, with curative magics. It has runes on the side, written in Druidic, which tell me so. And it is made of livewood... a very rare type of plant that maintains a semblance of life, even after it has been chopped down. That probably gives the wand an added boost of power when used.

I'm not sure about the other."

"Its no use to me then", Sennoth said and offered it to Phaeder or Kilral. "Thank you though." He also dropped the elixer back into his rucksack.

Phaeder

He does indeed take the rod, thinking it might be useful if he ever needs to do something like this again.

Serenity

Her interests weren't in the wand, but in better communicating with the Render, whom she'd become quite attached to. He was a main reason why she was still alive, in addition to the healing powers of Pacoth, which Serenity had also openly thanked her for. She remained walking behind the group to keep close to her overly-huge animal companion.

The Black Dog Tavern, inside the Town of Garrick

The group returns to the tavern where they first met the odd Mr. Burrfoot. The Render chooses to wait outside of town. Its probably a good thing, considering his bulk.

Inside the tavern, the gnome greets them as they return, as if he knew they were coming and was waiting for them. "Welcome! Welcome! I see you have brought back the lovely Ms. Pacoth with you! Most excellent. You have truly earned your reward. I trust it wasn't -too- difficult of a mission for you, though I'm a bit concerned that your paladin has somehow been bewitched into a dwarf!

Do tell me everything that happened, won't you?"

He orders a pint of ale for each of you, and gathers you all around a sizable table. As each of you tell your part of the tale, the gnome listens with rapt attention, offering the occassional "Good heavens!" and "You don't say"'s at appropriate places. When the tale is finished, he draws out a large bag that jingles pleasantly and tosses it to the center of the table. "Enjoy it, lads and lass. Ye've truly earned your pay after a harrowing tale of that sort.

In addition, I've supplied each of you with a ring. Its not particularly useful, but with it, I can contact you. While I admit, I had my doubts when I first saw you, you have certainly proven yourselves hardy and capable. I may just have other quests for you, if you are interested. Bigger challenges, and bigger rewards. Or you can simply pawn the ring off if that doesn't interest you.

Either way, my work here is done, and I need to go save another small part of the world. May you all live long and prosper!"

With those final words, he hops off the stool and trudges out of the tavern and off into the world once more.

Pacoth stands up to leave. "Thank you all for saving me. I would like to assure you that I will continue my quest, and ensure that the evils in this forest fade back to the shadows, for as long as I watch over it.

I would like to give you each something, as a special thank you, though I'm afraid its nothing extravagant...

*hands Kilral a potion* This will protect you from danger. The trees have a thick bark to protect themselves. Drink this and you will too for a time.

*gives Sennoth a pearl* Taken from the finest river clams in the forest, you can use this to help you identify that other item you have.

*Gives Serenity a shield* Take this. Its made of darkwood. Exceptionally light, and strong, just like you.

*To Phaeder, a bow* This bow is of the finest elven craftsmanship. May every arrow fired from it strike true."

She thanks you each again, and then departs back to the woods.
