Who wants to be immortalized?

Here's the deal, I've got a homework assigment I'm going to cheat with...sort of...not really...I'll explain.

I'm making a powerpoint presentation as if I'm going before a CEO. I need to convince him to invest in a text based role playing company. The details of the company itself are something I'll work out myself, but I need quotes from players as to why they take part in text RP and an estimation of about how long you've been doing it. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oh, the immortalized thing? It's an online college, so the files have to be submitted online. Ask SJ, once that happens, there's always a record of it somewhere. Ever find something in a search engine for a website that isn't actually there? Yeah, voila. Anyway, thanks again.

Something like this ?

I've been on-line text Rp'ing for about 10 years. Rp'ing with others is like writing a always changing, never ending book. It not only challenges your creativity, it also sends your mind on an adventure of imagination!

Awesome. Thanks. Ideally I'll need a minimum of three quotes, but I can use as many as come in. More quotes means more slides, and more slides in one section means less work in others! Hee hee.

Roleplaying for me is an escape from my reality. To completely leave behind the everyday life that surrounds us all. Be it a live roleplay or a forum roleplay, it allows creativity and gives freedom to enjoy a great hobby. It has also granted many close friendships, bonds that have grown over the years.

I've been rp'ing for about 8 years, and it has been an extension of who I am. Each character possessing a piece of my heart and soul to bring them to life, and each character experiencing a complete life of their own as I write with each passing post. Rp'ing is one of my passions and hobby, and it is where I met my wife, becoming our first common ground for a solid relationship irl and ic.

For me, RP started as an escape that became a hobby and finally evolved into a base of friendships. I met the love of my life through RP and my daughter exists because of RP. If I hadn't ever RPed and had never met my husband, I wouldn't know the joy that is Victoria Anne.

I suppose I should post one of my own. Cheap? Perhaps. But, I plan on using my own in a completely different section of the slideshow, and I figured maybe some of you would like to know what I think.

I have been RPing online for about 11 years. It started off as a way to feed my imagination. As I got more involved with it and friendships were created, it was a way to interact with those friends. As I aged, it became my escape from the monotony of everyday reality. It has since changed, again, into a sort of nostalgic reflection. It may never be what it was when chatrooms were used instead of message boards, but the friends are the same, and you can interact with more people closely since you don't have to be in the same place at the same time.

I think that the general consensus is that RP is constantly evolving for those who participate in the various games and is therefore able to reach a wide scope of people and almost anyone from any walk of life is able to achieve some sort of enjoyment from participation.

Text-based Roleplaying has been a favorite passtime of mine for over 9 years. It reflects a real-life where you yourself have complete control over the physics and the setting. I've come to know role-playing now as looking back to the 'old days' of it, but continue to enjoy it for what it is - an outlet for creativity more fufilling and engaging than merely writing for yourself, and socially more enjoyable than playing video games. Role-playing in chat rooms or on boards attracts, generally, a certain type of smart and funny person, and some of these have been friends longer than some of my best friends in -real- life.

I first wandered into text-based role-play in Yahoo Chat in '95. It was by mere accident that I found it, but the moment that I saw what it was about, everyone in 'Mance had helped me to become a better role-player. Why do I do it? Generally the most basic answer that I can contrive from that question is this: Everyone who reads a book always takes the side of one character in that book. it could be the good guy, the bad guy, the shy guy, anyone. Role-play allows you to do more than to just be a narrator and watch the characters as if it were a movie, it actually allows you the ability to create that character, to control that character, and to experience the different facets of that character's life. I love having the ability to dictate what happens to my own character. Where they grew up, what they are, what status they currently exist in. All of it. I thrive on imagination and with role-play, it's not just you role-playing with yourself. It's your character interacting with other people's characters. It's a tiny world of magic all in itself.

Curse you, Tiff! With a post like that how am I supposed to pick the best parts to quote? Maybe I'll make yours the headline quote...yeah...WOO HOO
