The site on the old host either didn't have one or had a different one, but this one... it just get tacked on by the new host?

I think it's ugly, too.

It shows up right next to the URL in the address bar.

And because I'm using Firefox, also on the tab I have the page open.

You can also navigate right to it.

It's not something I have cached. And it even shows up on the redirection page.

Which version of Firefox are you using? I'm on 2.0.0.6. I don't know, but an older version, it might not seek out a favicon automatically.

Then the next thing to check would be your Firefox settings.

In a new tab, type "about:config" in the address bar. Then in that search pane, type favicon. Only one options should come up, "browser.chrome.favicons".

If it's true, it should show. If false, it (and all others) won't.

Others work anyway. Its just that one I don't see, and the settings are as they should be.

i do have newsfox.global.favicons too.

No clue, then. But I'm able to navigate right to it, so that's concerning.

The forum folder has a different icon, but it doesn't show that one.

And no, I don't have these boards bookmarked in any way, so it's not that.

Just had someone who never hit the site do so, and he got the icon as well, using Opera.

I know IE won't show it, as IE won't look for it unless the page explicitly makes note of it, and none of these pages do.

Thats the default icon supplied by our new host. Its a combine 'h' and 'm'; the initials for our new host. Since we don't have an official icon for our site, and it didn't seem to cause any problems, I didn't bother to get rid of it. The other old icon you pointed to was the default from vBulletin, the software we use for the forums.

Does it cause problems for you somehow?
