The Others

Lauren giggled at the thought of playtime, not realizing that dangers other than herself and Lulu existed in this house. She skipped along through the kitchen, her bare feet thumping against the floorboards.

Skip, skip, skip. Through the livingroom she went, laughing all the while. "Luluuuuuuuu!" She called for her "sister" in an innocent way, much like a child would call for her friend. "Luluuuuuuuu! Where are youuuuuuuu?!"

Skip, skip, skip. She came to the base of the stairs. Teddy dangled from her right hand, his fur long since matted by the dried blood that covered him, the stuffing inside that made him plump soaked in blood that had dried over time to give him a rust colored appearence. "Luluuuuuu!"

She smiled as she started up the stairs. Lulu must be upstairs, musn't she? Well, Lauren would find Lulu. Hide and Seek. What a fun game. One, two, three, four....

Lauren counted each step she took until she reached the top of the stairs. 10 total steps. Well, the house wasn't very big anyway. 10 should more than suffice. "Luluuuuuuuuu!"

She followed the sound of the rolling head until it abruptly stopped. "Lulu?" A whisper through the darkness. Where was her sister? Lauren couldn't find her and she was starting to not like this game. Had Lulu abandoned her too? "Lulu?" This spoken a bit louder. Where was Lulu?

It's eyes widened, a little girl surprised or shocked, perhapse excited.

"Do it again! Make it do it again!"

Her smile gleamed, pearly whites snickering in the dark, living between those young lips. Snaking ever so seldomly in and out.

Gleaming eyes beamed, cutting a hole through and through this aparition of a woman before it, hands leering out as if awaiting the ball or in this case head to be returned.

And then it heard it, it's name. Those young eyes glowering to the darkness, illustrating not concern but excitement, it's name was called.

"Were in here! In here! Come get the ball!"

Yes, it said were, would Lauren undoubtedly wonder about that, that word in the sentence..were? And then it looked down. Movement. Movement beneath the floor boards MOVEMENT!

STOMP! it's foot hit the floor, so small yet so loud, pounding over and over. For once it's voice emanated the true nature of it which lies with in, so deep, so dark, so hostile.

"Come to my family."

It's eyes affixed on the form hidden so well beneath it's feet, beneath the floor. "Lauren will have fun...with you..."

And then the figure beneath the floor was ignored...The aparition of darkness before it paid attention to one more time, staring blankly, the child was back, as much of a child as it could be. That to it warm, but to the rest of the world cold, heartless, terrifying smile was back.

"Lauren!"

Megan remained tightly curled in a ball, she kept totally silent while the interaction between the new thing in the basement and the child like creature. But the loud stomping made her clench her lower lip between her teeth and when the child like thing addressed her, she nearly bite through her lip.
But the something distracted the attentions from her, thank god, and Megan once more began to pray for the rising of the sun so she could slip away from this place, for it was no longer a safe haven to hide, but another house of horrors from which to escape!

She, this shadowy being, knew of everything that lay within this house the moment that she had arrived here. Perhaps arrived wasn't the proper word, perhaps the correct word was infested. With the skull held firmly in her grasp she watched as the attention of Lulu was quickly diverted below them. At that single moment her hand flexed, the sound of a massive weight enclosing around the structured bone-ball filled her ears. She wouldn't allow Lulu out of her sight. Not since she'd actually found the demon-child. Child? Lulu was as much of a child as this presence was a saint. While Lulu gazed below and stomped her foot in warning to that beneath them, this presence...she...sneered in wait of Lulu's next movement. Yet as quickly as Lulu's head lifted and paid attention to her once more, the sneer had disappeared as quickly as it had arrived.

She knew of the good that still lay-in-wait within Lauren. She knew of the past, of the history, and of the evil that Lulu had slathered over Lauren's mind. She knew of it all, and still she waited for Lauren to arrive.

She'd heard Lauren's voice the first moment that she'd called out for Lulu. But still she said nothing. Not until Lauren had come close enough. The jagged teeth parted with a soft hiss and the sound that could only be known as what a dragon would sound like, should one have the capacity of speech, emanated out. "Come...play....Lauren..." Low, throaty...and full of delightful danger. She tossed the 'ball' into the air and caught it, twice, after repeating once more. "Come...play...Lauren..."
