So I'm going through my g-mail account and a headline comes up titled: iPod deemed a 'criminal tool' in high school. I figured, what the hell, read all about it. So I did.

http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/15/ipod-deemed-a-criminal-tool-in-high-school-security-breach/

To which my favorite posts is by a user of the name of Falcon:

guns aren't criminal tools. Criminals are criminals, if there's no guns they'll use baseball bats. Are we going to outlaw baseball next? Go ahead, they'll use tree branches instead. Might as well burn all the trees down now and destroy every blunt object ever made. Once that's done we need to make shoes with laces illegal, cause you can use a shoelace to strangle someone, guess shoelaces are 'criminal objects' now too. Hell, i could kill you with my bare hands so i guess we should amputate everyones apendages. Guess we better get started on those servant robots soon cause i dont know how we'll feed ourselves as apendageless stubs

To which the next reply sent me to this link about iPods being illegal.

Comment away, I know I verbally did.

I don't really know that a comment is necessary in this case, but I'm gonna offer one up anyway. I can understand the school banning the ipods from school property. They already have with every other portable electronics, so no real shock there. But the whole "criminal tool", as commented by everyone else on that site, is just stupid.

The world has turned into a bunch of wimps. That's all there is to it. A bunch of dos and don'ts. Don't eat chicken if you're pregnant, they have hormones that can warp your child. Don't eat vegetables, pregnant or not, because they have pesticides that cause cancer. Don't let your children bring WoD books to school because they might turn out to be serial killers cause RPGs are all about kids pretending to worship Satan, even though the majority of the time these parents are having fits over the RPGs, they haven't even bothered to find out what their kids are doing or to read up on them. Do make sure that whoever you're kissing has no cold sores because if you have a cut on your lip you could get oral herpes in your bloodstream and it could kill you. Don't let your children play video games because they're violent and you're not a bad parent if your kid kills someone, you probably just let them listen to "hate" music, i.e. Tool, Nirvana, etc. And, let's not forget one of my favorites: Don't let your children watch Sesame Street where one of the newest female characters is wearing a pink dress because it's anti-feminist and our future lesbians need to be manly, not girly. Honestly, I'm suprised the human race has survived this long. In general, the human race is a bunch of idiots with too much time on their hands and stupid opinions they feel they need to write books about. Give me a good, old fashioned lust-filled fictional romance any day. At least when I'm reading trash like that no one is telling me to do or not to do something.

Oh, and I forgot the most recent one I heard about: Don't eat microwaveable popcorn. If you must have popcorn, do it on the stove because the microwaveable kind can give you cancer. Pathetic.

I dunno. I think that if an object is used in a crime, then it seems to me it qualifies as a criminal tool. Of course, that doesn't mean that every specimen of that object is going to be used in a crime. Just that the specific object was used. They used to call those types of things Evidence, instead of naming them criminal tools.

Oh well.

The fact of the matter is that most objects that are used/viewed in our everyday life can be potentially used as weapons against someone else. Of course, that doesn't mean that we should be overly paranoid and believe many things should be banned from use or production to the actions of a minor few with these objects. Sure enough, some items are essentially dangerous in nature such as sharp kitchen knives and guns, but they are not dangerous if they're used in the correct way.

Why is it, as society seems to grow smarter technologicaly, that they seem to grow dumber when it comes to common sense, morals and logical thought process.

I guess my American History teacher was right all those years ago when he said "Common sense is NOT that common."

I don't know why but I feel like I need to slap whoever wrote that, first quote, presumably as an argument against gun control.

Yeah a baseball bat can be used to hit people, but its designed to hit baseballs. A gun can shoot people, thats what it was designed for.

That iPod bit was writted with the tongue so firmly in the cheek it was silly.

~Points to the Illogical one who is more logical than half the people on the net~ Speaking of Sesame street, I will never forget Ernie and Bert. Remember what happened? People were pissed because two 'men' were living together.

They were going to kill off either Ernie or Bert based off of the following: AIDS (I shit you not) leukemia, a traffic accident by a car or a bus. Some of this had to do with the voice of the muppet dying (congestive heart failure) but then all of these people rose up and were like "two men living together on a kids tv show? We can't allow that!"

I reserve the right to carry around a car antennae and start whipping people. On the ear....yes the ear...because everytime you start bitching about two MUPPETS living together, then suddenly your ear will start to sting as if it were being whipped with a car's antennae. Ohhhh yes, this will be fun for me.
