Back In Town

David_MacCallister

Codename - Joseph
Location: Outside of Capital City
Time: Mid-Afternoon

His face was not seen for many months, bordering on over a year. A sudden dissappearance raised many questions from friends and foes alike. What was his purpose in going into hiding? Why did he vanish? What forces were at work that forced one of Capital City's most infamous assassins to simply leave with nothing more than a dust trail?

It was a calling. The young mercenary, David MacCallister, needed to find a new path in life. Alongside his friend Yae Kisaragi, the two assassins set out on a journey to the farthest reaches of Eurasia to find the one thing that eludes most assassins and hired killers.

Forgiveness. After so many deaths and after watching so many friends pass before their eyes, the hardened mercenaries needed to reach back to their roots and find peace. But after nearly a year in hiding, would people call upon David or Yae as friends, or cowards for running out on everyone?

Yae would never find the answer to that question. During their escape from Capital City to Eurasia, Yae was mortally wounded by a rogue assassin. She only survived a few days past that, and was buried at a shrine near the location where David began his lengthy recovery, but would he ever forget his lost friend?

Present Day

A small, single-wide trailer covered in tall grass was obscured by several overgrown trees was the setting for the return of David MacCallister. The front door slowly creeped open, revealing a severely run down structure. The man standing in the doorway carried a large duffel bag, which landed on the floor with a resounding thud that sent dust skyward.

This was David's old home, when he first arrived at Capital City. It was in need of many repairs, but those repairs would have to wait. The silent assassin knew that he had other things to take care of. He had many people to contact. He had many loose ends to tie up. But one thing above all else took priority.

He needed to contact Alliana and Mithrandir. Without a working phone or codec, however, it would be impossible. Many things had to be done. David stood in the middle of the trailer's living room, scanning it carefully. Many memories of this place still lingered in the back of his mind.

It was here that David and Alliana met. It was here that David hooked up with his former Section One operative and mentor, Dominic Vincent. It was also in this very place where he and Yae met and decided to leave Capital City behind for good. So much for that.

Hours after arriving at his old residence, David found himself seated in the kitchen. Lying on the table was a picture album containing many of his past memories. Of those photos and memories were those of Alliana, Alec Hicks, Mithrandir, Nerissa, Nick, Dominic, Jessie, Yae, and a host of others. David flipped through it a page at a time, reading the captions beneath each photo, a smile crossing his lips.

That is until he found a photo of Yae. David clenched his eyes shut and lowered his head. He remembered this photo all too well. It was a week after Yae rescued him from the Epsilon One base in the Badlands. David and Yae were working on an old Trans-Am back at an old garage. They had just fired the engine up and it turned over without a hitch.

David stood immediately and headed for the front door, slamming it open. As he rounded the corner to the garage, David was pleased to see the very same Trans-Am covered by a tarp under the carport. It was time to make his name known again, but not in the same manner as before. He wouldn't utilize death as a tool. He would do something else.

David was going to turn into Death. As the Trans-Am sped away into the night, equipment in the trunk of the car rattled inside of padded cases. these familiar tools would begin David's return. But what was he returning to? His previous life? No...

David's new mission was far more important that making a name for himself and whacking people here and there. He was on a quest to avenge Yae's death by tracking down the people responsible for the assassin that killed her. It would be a long search, but he had a good place to begin searching for clues. He needed to contact one man...

The Trans-Am came to a stop in front of the Ayenee Police Department main precinct. As the engine idled, the lone assassin glared through the tinted glass, smiling a bit. He had to get someone's attention. He knew that he was a wanted man for killing Elena Jackson at Sci-Tech medical. Would the police still remember him?

It didn't take long before he got his answer. A police cruiser rounded the block and flipped its lights on. The officers inside had noticed David's Trans-Am. David watched through the rearview mirror and chuckled as his right hand moved towards the shifter.

"Come on Alec, let it be you... We need to talk, old friend." As he whispered to himself, David depressed the clutch and shifted the car into first gear. When the police cruiser closed to within 15 feet, David released the clutch and slammed the gas, peeling away from the cruiser. It was magic. All it took to piss off the police was a well-timed burnout.

David's Trans-Am roared off with the police cruiser in hot pursuit... He was back.

(And I am back. House burned down, got some insurance money and acquired a laptop. All is well and after I get a multimedia card, I'm going to be back full time. I've got to pay per use right now, but no problems. Good to see you all again! Oh and I might be a lil' rusty. -Richard-)
