It appears that we were victims in a victimless crime.

Yesterday, a pretty significant attack against the entire internet happened. The servers which direct routing for domains that end in .org got hit pretty hard. Quite a few of you noticed the difficulty in reaching the boards for a few hours yesterday.

I found an article talking about the attack. I find it particularly ironic that they say the attack went unnoticed by users when everyone here who was online at the time noticed it and contacted me about it.

If anyone has questions or comments about this further, I'd be interested in hearing them.
 
Only thing I had a problem with yesterday was when trying to send a pm. It took 3 tries (though all 3 went through) befor it actually was a visual confirmation that it had been submitted.

I should have posted something about this yesterday. I'm sorry I didn't think about it. Some of you know I use to work at AT&T and about 20% of the internet goes through the servers in the building I worked in. I was contacted about it as a "Hey guess what" kind of thing, but I didn't think to mention it here.

My contacts at AT&T are saying they can't find anything that's actually damaged, and they don't think any of the other servers in the hands of different companies were damaged either.
