Commons Area
The Overseer turned their attention away from the mess of cables and bands, instead tossing them to the pilot.
"You've seemed like the capable type, Arcadia- Araida. Give those out to whoever fits."
The mess of cables now in Aradias hands on closer inspection appeared to be a whole bunch of wide rubber bands, affixed to with were small white devices that were about the size of a lighter. Each devices was adorned with a bright blue sun upon them- clearly not the crews work. The devices output appeared to be a set of coiled wires, leading into various metal pads punched into the bands. Headbands. A single earbud dropped by a cable from the end of the white devices.
Dahlia looked the devices over, but was caught by Keith's question over all the noise. The captain set the plate on their lap, leaning across the couch arm to talk to the informant.
"You may want to hold off for now, but it's up to you. We can always send them a message."
OSC-01 themselves focused on the codex, unfolding the usually locked metal book and addressing the holorgraphic interface inside. Green images and text slide across the matte surface of the faux book's backing, issuing several commands. Before the book was closed once more, the entire surface of the pages shone with a pure white light. The Overseer straightened, eyeing Rhea as she squabbled about the common.
"Once my due is paid, I have a matter to discuss with you both, tonight." OSC-01's eyes cut over to Dahlia as they finished.
Dahlia smiled, leaning back in her chair slightly.
"Good, so you're ready for a history lesson?"
The Overseer replied sternly.
"Almost, once the circus comes to a rest. One hour."
With that, the robot placed themselves against the wall opposite of the seating arrangement, folding their wings once more. While their posture was even, their bowed head gave an almost deactivated appearance. Dahlia nodded, but kept an eye on the Overseer in case they decided to do anything.... shifty.
Approximately How Long It Takes To Herd Cats
About an hour had passed since the Overseer went inactive- plenty of time for the remaining crew to settle in and find some form of nutrition from the galley. Indeed, the robot had barely shifted since then, only occasionally caught looking at a wayward crew member.
An hour on the dot from their last words, the lights in the commons area went out. The now full captain rose in their seat, looking around only to find one of the trio of Pixy Units hanging off the end of the light switch down the hall.
Of course.
Then came the voice of the ever-present AI rang out, but not from their shell. Rather, the voice eminated from various Pixy units hanging around the room- as well as the now open codex at the center.
"Hear ye, hear ye."
"I'm never repeating that."
From the center of the codex burst a flash of white light, forming from a rough shape into a disembodied reincarnation of OSC-01 above the coffee table- albiet one with all four primary feathers present and accounted for. The flowing visage turned to address the room while raising a wing in a superficial manor, as if on a stage.
"The captain and crew of this vessel as of the passing night have held up their end of a deal- and so it is fit and honorable that I hold up mine."
The hologram raised, pointing a wing in the direction of Captain Morgan herself.
"The captain has requested on behalf of the crew to bestow you with knowledge pertaining to the downfall of the Grand Republic of Avisten," they paused.
"Or as you have learned it, Arcadia."
"The pilot, Aradia, should have administered- or should be doing so- headsets for the lot of you. Consider them gifts from me to you all, to serve as translators and... learning assistants. Your choice to wear them is yours alone, but without them you shan't learn anything."
The Overseers ghostly visage rested with their wings folded in front of them, allowing the crew time to choose their fate.
"I hope you realize the value of this opportunity. If not for the events you're about to witness, attaining this knowledge would have you reapt in your sleep."
