Our old domain. Fund Raising needed.

Alright, a lot of people have asked about how they can help this place in a financial sense. Usually, they are told they are free to donate whatever they please, but at the moment, we are financially secure.

Well, with the introduction of our old domain coming up for sale via auction, we are looking to raise some money to purchase it back.

We also want to have a unified front here. If we all start bidding against eachother, we all end up losing by paying more.

If anyone has already bid on the domain, please let us know here. If you haven't please don't bid, but instead, donate what you can to help support our cause.

More information will be coming later today.

Get your wallets out, and start warming up your credit cards. We are gonna have some fund raiser stuff too so we can make this interesting for our donation people.

Did what I could for now. I must say I'm kinda pissed that someone's going to end up profiting off of this, but it's OUR site. So, whatcha gonna do?

If anybody has any ideas for other types of fund raisers, feel free to make the suggestion.
 
The money donated is going to our site. We have a business paypal account set up. Donations are deposited into that account.

Currently, I am the caretaker of the finances. Shelle also has access as a backup, but no one else does.

It will be used to try and get our domain back. Who gets the money from that sale... I'm afraid I don't know.
 
*nods* no experience with how pay pal worked so was just curious. If by chance you don't get it, then the money will remain in this account to pay for thie sites future I am guessing?
 
Correct. Refunds will be available upon request for those who donated specifically for this cause, if it falls through, minus fees for the transfer that paypal incurs.
 
And how exactly would a refund work? Would the sender also need a pay pal account or does thier credit card just get credited?
 
That is an excellent question, and I don't know for certain. Paypal account owners will obviously have the refund deposited to their paypal account. If for some reason the refund did not work via credit card, I would send the money personally via mail or whatever method the donator preferred.
 
My last question, promise. What if you don't have an actual credit card. I have a debit card which in alot of cases works the same but, not in every case.
 
If your debit card has that little visa or mastercard logo on it, you can use it just like a credit card.

If you want, you can also donate directly from your bank account by signing up for a paypal account. You need your banks routing information and account number.
 
I think paypal may have a way of returning funds to a credit card. I'll check into it just to be sure.
 
I'm not really concerned about it. I think we will get enough to get the domain. And if not, and there are any problems, I'll personally make sure any refunds get processed.
