A member of the Stormrider clan who controlled the element of Darkness. In the future his clan and his world, died during a catastrophe. He found a technology that would allow him to save the past, to save his people. He found a way to go back in time. In that time he found his people being led by someone corrupt with power. She saw him as a threat to her power and tried to have him killed. When he survived she had him exiled from the clan. The clan he returned to save was now his enemy. This caused Janus to snap, he decided to leave his clan to their fate. The world was still something worth saving. He found the kingdom of Lysia. He found scrolls there talking of the comet of Yahell and the end of days. The comet was set to pass within the next year. He used his nanotechnology to take control of the minds and bodies of an entire kingdom. Using their minds, he was able to brainstorm an idea on how to save the future. He changed his mind about saving the world. As the years passed he began to lose more and more of his humanity.
The world burned, his clan the Stormriders burned with it. The storm riders each had powers over a different element. Even with these powers, they were unable to stop the world's destruction. Janus commanded the darkness, he swore he would find a way to stop this catastrophe. He drifted in the darkness of space, until he found a ship, floating adrift. He found aboard that ship were things that looked human, but were more machine, than flesh. Janus took from them the machines that gave them life.
The machines reacted differently to his magic enhanced bloodline. Instead of becoming part of him, he became part of them. He found he could use the machines, put them into other beings and have them bow to his will. They shared a hive mind, one that he controlled. After arriving back on Ayenee, he found survivors. The world was not completely destroyed. He assimilated them into his ranks and through their minds heard the legends of the city of time.
Janus found the city of time, surrounded by derelict machines from various time periods. In the city, time had stopped for those that once lived there. Inside the city, he was confronted by a golem, but the golem was actually the physical manifestation of the time guardian. He managed to elude the guardian, using the shadows. After passing through a portal held open by a device, he arrived in the past, but not the past he was hoping for.
He arrived in a land called Rhydian, where he discovered a woman. This woman had tech on her that he saw useful to his mission. He tried to convince the woman to give him the tech. She became argumentative, then her people showed up. They began firing on Janus, but not before he killed the woman and assimilated the tech into his being. Colonel Slane and his army used an e.m.p. to try and kill Janus.
The attack almost worked, but Janus had already incorporated Slane's drones into his tech beg. The drones carried Janus's conscious and integrated DNA away allowing him to reconstruct himself. Janus sought out the city of time once more, finding it in a different location this time. He used another portal, this time traveling further in the past, this time in Ayenee.
Arriving in Ayenee's past he finds the Stormrider clan and explains his situation. The member he found January Rain agrees to take him to their leader. He is brought before Storm Greyhawkin at the Stormrider Palace. She expects submissive attitudes from her followers. Janus, however, is not the type to bow to a leader he has never met. In his time there is no mention of Storm or those that serve her.
He tries to pull other Stormriders to his cause, but in doing so gains more of Storm's ire. Storm managed to turn the other Stormriders against Janus. He was forced to flee his own clan and live in the wilds. He sent out his drones and his nano flies. He infiltrated the minds of a village, learning that he was in the lands of Lysia. The more minds he infiltrated, the more he was able to control them. He could override their free will if he wanted to.
In Lysia he saved the king's life during a rebellion that led to a civil war. Janus came to find that all the lands around Lysia were in some sort of war. Since his clan had turned on him, there was no reason for him to protect them anymore. The world was still worth saving though, in order to save it, he would have to end the war. The king of Lysia, named Janus as his champion after the civil war had ended. During his time as champion, he found that not all people were worth saving.
He began to formulate a plan using the tech he had incorporated into himself. He began to work on building an artificial city, a virtual kingdom reserved for only the good and the just.
The people of Lysia felt a growing darkness within everyone. It was unknown to them that Janus was weeding out those he deemed unworthy of his new paradise. His virtual city would ensure that civilization survived the end of times. Those who were found to be good, would be archived into the virtual world. They would know nothing of how they arrived, only that they did not want, there was no war in the eternal kingdom of Lysia. The king began to notice that many of his citizens and knights followed Janus around as though he were some messiah.
The king did not like being second to Janus. The king summoned Janus to his throne room. There he plunged a dagger into Janus's heart. Janus's body fell to the ground. Suddenly one of the king's knights shouted, “Yes savior I am ready to reside in the city of peace!” The knight suddenly was consumed by nano bots. When they dispersed, Janus stood there looking on the king. Janus told the king that he could not stop him. Janus also told the king that he was not worthy to enter the eternal kingdom.
The king had agents spy on Janus and found he was building a device. This device was the housing for the computer that kept the eternal kingdom alive. The king and a few of his loyal knights stole the housing and took it to a hidden set of caves. The Darkthornes arrived around this time, Janus used them to help him find the housing and the king.
Janus shadow walked into the caves, he killed the king and his knights, declaring himself ruler of Lysia. He ordered those he deemed too evil or corrupt for Lysia to leave with the Darkthornes. He then shrouded the entire kingdom in complete darkness. He uploaded the minds of those he deemed good. The physical kingdom of Lysia became a place of darkness and death. Many sought out Lysia, so they could reside in the eternal kingdom where there was no death, deformity, pain, or strife.
Janus continues to collect the worthy souls and take them to the eternal kingdom. Those he collects, impart their memories and powers to him. Janus is slowly expanding the edges of Lysia, keeping it in darkness. Only those who enter and are found to be worthy by his nano flies are able to see a light that leads them to the castle. In the eternal kingdom it is a mirror image of the future that Janus lived within. He figures that eventually he will encounter his Stormrider clan. He will convince them to join him in the eternal kingdom, to live forever.
