Happy New Year everyone, I hope you had an enjoyable celebration of the death of 2016 the year of misery, maybe we can have a positive year ahead of us.
The non-zero chance of nuclear war is extremely concerning. Even if that never happens, and I hope it never does, we still have to grapple with a lot of problems, such as population growth, pollution and climate change, resource scarcity, and increasing wealth inequality. I don't want us to be stuck in a scenario that looks like the movie Elysium, where billionaires live on their paradise space station and the rest of us live on an Earth that's become a giant favela/landfill. My big worry lately is that we're actually living in the golden years now and life will never be as good--for any of us--as it is presently. That one day we'll look back fondly on the years where we had a free and open internet and the time and money to use it for recreational roleplaying.3 months in and I say the world is doomed..
