The Inevitability of Mortality

Thinking about something like it after reading an off-topic blog post (it is kinda off-topic for the general theme of the blog as the writer is usually writing about languages and Unicode support in Windows), I suddenly had this weird thought, sort of a depressing question.

If you knew you were going to die within the month, who would be the first person you would say good-bye to?

But, then I thought, well, that's stupid, it'd probably be your closest family member, so I expanded it to:

If you knew you were going to die within the month, who would be the first person that is not related to you that you would say good-bye to?

Because, in the case of the topic I read, the person he's talking about isn't related to him either.

So, think about that. If you knew you were going to die within the month, and I don't mean one of those "you have two months to live" sentences but proceed to live for eight years things, who would be the first person who is not related to you that you would say good-bye to?

Just think about who. I don't necessarily expect anyone to reply with an answer (though if you want to say who and why, I'm not stopping you).

Well, the obvious answer would be my children and then my husband, but, if a husband is still considered a relative, I guess it would have to be my best friend, Ashley. The why is pretty simple too. She's the one person outside of my family (and I'm counting in-laws as family) who has been there for me through some of the roughest spots in my life. Even when Marco wasn't there, she was.

It's been a long time since I've posted anything but here goes-- Death isn't an end to a mortal understanding of livelihood: yet merely a passover. In other words, a transcendental shift where one crosses over into the cosmic ebb and flow of cyclic lives and amendable evolution throughout the universe. Each death, inturn, brings forth a fruition of prosperity adapted from the previous experiences of one's aforementioned life. Death, in short, is nothing but a fated placement by the multiverses where the predated choices of one's past life suppliments their next stage in existence. A bit of a buddhist derivative but oh well. To summarize- death is either evolution or devolution.- Astral Josh

P.S The fear of death might originate from the fear of change. People fear what they don't understand and fear what they can't control. Yet this human phobia is an inexplicit contradiction to the nature of man and the universe considering the only true constant in man and his reality is change. Citations you ask?-thermodynamics for one. Need I say more?

And nothing you just said had anything to do with the question asked. It wasn't a question of what death is or could be or might be or whatever other spin you want to put on it. It wasn't a question of the existence of a Heaven or Hell or some other unexplainable phenomenon or whether you believe in reincarnation or even if Heaven could possibly exist because in reality, one Heaven will not make the individual happy. It was a question of who you would say good-bye to if you knew you were going to die.

It's a shame when we're so intent on trying to sound intelligent that in the end we waste time and brainpower thinking up big words that hopefully the peons won't understand and in the process avoid answering the original question posed. Are you a politician by any chance?

I was just merely philosophizing. That's all. Your response is one of insecurity. I wasn't aiming to misdirect the conversation.

{steps in} Josh, her response is not one of insecurity, she was just stating that your post was irrelevant. If you were just merely philosophizing, please state so as to keep such posts heading your way in the beginning. I understand that you were not aiming to misdirect the conversation.

Kim, the first paragraph of your post was all that was needed, your second one was not.

{smiles to them both before heading back into the darkness}

Heh. I actually posted that before heading off to the rant thread so...yeah. It was kind of my way of being a bitch because I was pissed. Sorry, uh, Josh?

I think if I were dying, I would not tell anyone, I would leave letters to be handed out upon my death though, so Maybe the only non-related person I would tell would be my Dog Saito.

That's cool by me. I'm just use to criticism within the community we all dive ourselves in. So yes, excuse me for my presumptuous behavior. Remember, every form of life deserves the same respect as yours alone. This is merely the cosmic way: for all of us are nothing more than forms attempting to seek learning and acknowledgment; stimulation. The very defining factors of our lives are nothing more than roles played out through stimulation to benefit the greater need of the karmic gears/ she/ Urantia/ our soul bound universe. Let the shamanic way flow through all of us for we're nothing more than tools of the greater HE. Better yet we're nothing more than modulations of HE and the trinity of completion.

P.S For the reverence of Joey's departed eternal consciousness/xix_bishop_xix- Perfect love, Perfect Trust, Harm None. Joey for showing me my first introduction to mysticism I can never thank your passing conscious immortality enough. Truly I benevolently thank thee. R.I.P you benefactor of Crawley.

Joey.....truly...R.I.P you luminary of enlightenment.

Looking at the dates these were posted I'm reminded how long it's been since I've actually had internet at my OWN HOUSE!

Anyway...

The first person outside of my family I would say goodbye to would be (here's a huge shock) my best friend. Wow, didn't see that one coming, right?
