The Forgotten Forge: OOC

Ok, first off, let me explain that this is completely bonus XP. Normally, I would not give XP out at all for this kind of thing, but I wanted to make a bit of a point about teamwork, and I needed a guinea pig group to test this out with, so I'm being generous. I want to make it known that Teamwork is a good thing, and has rewards. Usually not XP rewards, but this time, I'll put a little frosting on the cake. This was not a part of the planned adventure as printed.

Everyone got 30 out of a possible 100 bonus XP for teamwork. More would've been possible, had you all worked together as a team more efficiently when getting out of the foundry. The goal of that little exercise was to see how well you could all play off of each other's advantages, and cover for each other's weaknesses. You guys didn't do so well, but at least you didn't fail miserably.

To give an example of something that would've given you a perfect hundred out of a hundred, imagine if things had been done in this order. This is just one example.

Alo and/or Gorfan combined their relative int and wis to come up with a plan for escape, using the book cases as ladders. (20 points)

Gorfan holds the bookshelves steady (dwarven sturdiness, yay) while Ahlias, the strongest of the group, and most physically competent, climbs and jumps to get out of the hole. (20 points)

Next, Alo goes up, and Ahlias uses his physical strength to help pull weak Alo out. (20 points)

Soryn holds the shelves steady while Gorfan goes up. He's shorter and heavier, so both Alo and Ahlias help pull him up. (20 points)

Finally, Soryn climbs up, using his superior balance skills to maintain himself without the aid of the others, and Ahlias and Gorfan pull him out. (20 points)

Also, i made a small edit to the first post of this thread where I've been keeping my special rules. See the house rules about hands, the new rule I'll be implimenting about posting rates, and the changes to a character sheet for inventory.

heh. Sorry bout the bad jump roll, colvin.

SJ, mind if I hop in here when you folks get back to town? If you have any suggestions as to characters that may be helpful to the game, I'm all ears.

Its been my luck most of this RP really lol. I get 20s and such when it doesn't really matter and ones when it does haha. Not complaining though...character is still alive woo

Hey pinstripe.

As a matter of fact, I could use another person. We'll talk details over AIM and get you rolling.

We've got our 'Core Four' (Wiz/Clr/Rog/Ftr) and an extra Ftr on the way. Practically anything would do.

Bards and Artificers are the best 'support' classes, and can help make everyone else better at what they do, so you can't go wrong with either of them. Both can do melee, backup healing, and cast enhancement magics.

A Sorcerer or another Wiz as a secondary arcane spellcaster wouldn't hurt.

A Druid would be useful, especially in wilderness situations, and as a backup healer.

A Paladin or another Cleric could be interesting to beef up melee and healing abilities.

A barbarian or monk would make you guys a melee powerhouse, but might leave you weaker on ranged than you already are. A Ranger with archery could help your ranged combat situation, and also help in the wilderness.

A second Rogue could be interesting, but you'd probably want to be careful not to cross paths with our existing rogue.

This is officially the end of The Forgotten Forge adventure, but not of the campaign.

Look for the next installment, Shadows of the Last War. Keep your character sheet handy. I'm going to be having a short break, just so I can get that other campaign started. I'll have an OOC thread up sometime tomorrow, and official IC action will begin on monday. Rest, Relax, enjoy your XP, and prepare for the next stage.

The adventure in itself was great...warforged, beetle swarms, metal dogs, xp, awesomely good or bad rolling, immersive setting...thanks for DMing the adventure SJ! I do look forward to the next installment of the campaign.
