CIS Vaepora

Kendra looked Adrin over, the young officer was decently put together that was for a man who had spent the night before drinking. She knew, despite her parents best efforts where he had been, she was just as clever as they were if not more cunning in her devices. “Welcome aboard the Vaepora, Commander Eitan,” she said then gave Kimora a gentle nod, which made the young officer turn around and go back out the door and into the corridor which left the two command officers to their privacy. Kendra motioned to the chair to the right of hers, and sat back down. The screens she had been consumed by earlier had been hidden away. “So, I guess we have a lot to talk about, and not just the mission at hand.” The cage-like ornamentation around the twin points of her ears caught the shielded lighting of the ship, it made her all the more ambient in her appearance. “You've been assigned to the Vaepora because our parents are determined to see us married. An Imperial arrangement, one that would strengthen the bond between our Ysi. I want you to understand, that regardless of their wishes I am not going to throw myself at you, Adrin. I know your reputation, you're a capable officer, but your habits when it comes to women are less than pleasant,” she told him straight forward, unwilling to set the course of this behind a veil. “That said, if you learn how to be a gentleman, I will give you a fair shot. It means you're going to have to lay off of that boyish rebellion of yours and put some real effort in. Then both of our parents and I will be pleased.” She wondered how he would react, the blatant start was tactical, she had to see if there was something beneath all the bravado. She couldn't draw it out long, they had a mission to complete.

Adrin watched Kimora leave with an emotionless expression and maintained it on his lips as he took to the chair. The young man had every intention of paying attention to his commander but the way she started the conversation disappointed his expectations. His expectations of her in that moment were betrayed by her sudden self protective and entitled speech that followed. But no emotion ever made it to his lips through the rant that followed. He simply nodded and took the information till she decided to end her sentence. But his eyes weren't nearly as steady as his lips and couldn't help but gaze at the beauty of the woman that sat across. It was really the eyes that caught him right between the crosshatch. And he didn't intend to run. He looked right back into them with the intention of reading into her very soul. As her voice trailed off though, he felt inclined to speak but did so only ater taking a deep breath to collect his thoughts. His closed lids opened as he exhaled and the usually blue gaze of his shined a shade of emerald in the lighting. "Thank you for...that...Commander. I appreciate your straight forwardness on the matter. I know our families' expectations on getting us married and I have seen the lengths to which they will go...first hand."

His eyes momentarily shift to the camera on the side knowing full well that Kimora was listening in on this. When his gaze shifted back, he had a slight smile on his face as if what was to follow was going to be meant for her alone. And it was. "However the mechanical nature with which you too are approaching this opportunity does concern me. I am not a puppet. And I wont perform. I see that you have already formed a clear idea of me without so much as having a conversation of me and I can't really blame you for it I suppose. It is the way of our time. I will have you know that nothing is as simple as it seems and any predispositions that you have formed in my case will prove ill supported. We don't really get to show who we really are after all...out there...". His eyes trailed off slightly to the right solemnly before finding there way back into hers, his time back wit a sincerity unbecoming of the man that was bathed in Champagne less than 24 hours earlier: "But I dont expect you to throw me anything. And I don't plan on being anything I am not. So what that leaves us with is an opportunity to get to know each other. Which I truly...am excited for."

Kendra chuckled, amused by Adrin's response. “Mechanical..,” she laughed some more as she shook her head in his direction. “I'm glad you don't plan on being anything you're not. You should try to wear a little less aftershave though...it didn't work too well at covering up your drunkenness last night.” She played her hand, she had been there at his party. That was how she knew. “Well it is nice to get to know you, hopefully you're ready for a little action...actual action.” she reached towards him, but it was towards the console on the table, the volumetric display activated. “The Vaepora's orders have changed from the original plan, we're going to be rendezvousing with the MES Trarback, a Minatu Leviathan, in the Scorpia Cloud to pick up a highly classified piece of equipment. We will then be assigned to the first strike wave of forces being devoted to attacking the Craethel strongholds at Ayem'vu. Our mission however is to recover the Norian Continuum's Flagship, the Falcon's Star which was left behind when we extracted their leaders from the planet. Once we have secured the Titan, we are to deliver it to New Noria for processing and delivery back to it's rightful owner,” she explained their mission, as the volumetric briefing of sensor logs and battle plans played out in front of them.

Her sultry laugh caught Adrin off guard and for a second, his hard headed features let lose a nervous chuckle at her words. “Action is always good”. As Kendra explained the additional details of their mission, Adrin couldn’t help but raise a brow. He knew full well the implications of these undercover missions. If the two of them had been selected for this, whatever they were recovering was something that no one else could know about. This was no going to be easy. And that made him so excited, he could barely keep his breathing from fastening. “Understood...” he said and then quickly added a hasty “Commander”. He was knew to this and the importance of ranks though beaten into them in the academy, became a very different affair when the your superior was the most luscious beauty on the planet. In that moment, Adrin trailed his sight over the athletic and curvaceous form in front of him and then quickly looked around to check that no one had seen him do so. A second later he remembered the cameras and quickly cleared his throat as if to refocus. “I guess the only question left then is, when do we leave?”

Kendra grinned and looked to Adrin as she stood up from her seat at the table, “Kendra to bridge, prepare for departure. The XO and I are on our way up.” She lead the way out of the conference room and headed for the lift, which lurched into motion and zipped towards the bridge once they were inside. As they headed towards the bridge, the update about the 2nd Fleet came to Kendra's pad, a look of concern crossed her gaze as she shifted the pad into Adrin's hands. She said quietly, as she gave him time to read about the destruction of the fleet Cururnir had went with to New Eden, “We can't end up like those poor souls...We have to survive.” Before he could reply, the doors opened to the bridge, the duty officer was already to the left of the two throne-like chairs on the command platform in preparation for their arrival, Kimora stood on the opposite side, “Captain on the bridge!” Kimora declared, as the officers and crew acknowledged the arrival of their Captain and XO. “Adrin, check in with engineering, make sure we're ready to leave.” Kendra ordered, the crew was already going through the pre-launch list and the War Falcon was in the process of bringing it's internal power system online as they began the disconnection procedure from the dock.

By this time, Adrin’s own smile had returned to his lips with an added bit for as a compliment to his present company. Through there ride in the elevator, he stood next to Kendra and looked at what little remained of the once great fleet. While confident in his abilities, the surreal sight left him stunned for a second. So many lives were at stake that failure was no longer an option. Do or die. He chose to do. Taking a deep breath, on the exhale, he took after the raven colored girl that his destiny somehow felt intertwined with. Kendra’s words fell on deaf ears as Adrin was already in his niche. If any were to look at him, the young man was standing between the experienced engineers and intricately dictating orders as if he was someone who owned their very beings: “Good Evening. I am your XO, Adrin Eitan and this ..”, he paused a second as ARIA’s little metallic doll form jumped off his shoulders to walk about operation table, “is ARIA. I have one and one rule alone, don’t do anything that isn’t necessary. Anything I tell you do is necessary. Everything else, unnecessary. With those rules in mind, you seven have exactly 5 minutes to update the dashboards with these three things: Current Enemy Location Patterns, A mapped route to our destination, diagnostics to this beautiful falcon that’s about to take flight, and lastly, I want a count of our crew and supplies. Another thing about me…I don’t like repeating myself. So I hope you wrote that all down. If not, bug ARIA. She is nice…every now and then. Five minutes.” He reminded them one last time with a smile and moved to listen to the Captain’s further orders.

The crew complied with Adrin's orders, the most recent Craethel sightings, and positions were reported to his terminal. Umbilicals and moorings retracted from the ship and docking clamps disengaged as the War Falcon's engines finished their start sequence and diagnostics information was transferred to the command terminals. "We are green, all systems are operating within the normal range," The Operations Officer reported, the main projection activated and the flashing beacons at the edges of the Spacedock's exterior doors maintained a steady rhythm, indicating that the dock was ready for their departure as well. By now all of the ship's departments had reported to Adrin, their reports scrolled on the screen. "Set a course for Scorpia Cloud, FTL once we're clear of the dock," she ordered. The War Falcon's STL drives fired and the ship sailed through the bay doors and into space. Kendra glanced briefly towards Adrin as the ship flashed into slipstream headed towards the cloud where they would rendezvous with the Trarback.

"So, I don't know what we can expect from this Minatu ship. What we have on them is limited, other than the fact their stealth technology is more advanced than ours," Kendra explained to Adrin as she checked a few of her screens. "Apparently, this little exchange is not exactly on their books, a favor from their Emperor who is Norian. In either case, we should be ready for anything." She pulled up information on the cloud, "We picked Scorpia because of the intensive exotic radiation from the nebula will interfere equally with both of our ships, taking away the advantages of either side. Just in case, " she finished. She looked towards the NavCon officer and requested, "ETA until the cloud?"

"Twenty-six minutes, Captain." the NavCon officer replied to her request.

Adrin’s eyes were dancing along the scrolling glyphs that were passing by one after another. The usual smirk and smile were lost for a more sincere expression as he evaluated the entirety of the dataset and looked for an anomaly of any sort. There didn’t seem to be any and that pleased him much. While still calculating if the charted path was indeed taking the safest course through Craethel sighting maps, he quickly made a few small adjustments to increase the efficiency of travel using gravitational delta readings in the surroundings to detect and steer away from places where they could find a lingering fleet hiding.

He only turned around in time to catch Kendra’s eyes and instantly smiled reassuringly. They had a lot of responsibility but they seemed capable enough to handle it. “That’s a nice little use of the Nebula…did you come up with that? “ He paused, and then quickly added, “Captain”. The engineers took to verifying Adrin’s changes and green lights popped up by all the checks that Adrin had asked of them. “Ready when you are.” Adrin added and then took a look about…taking a look at what was to be the vessel of his first mission.

Kendra smirked confidently, the ego showed in that brief flash across her features, she then adjusted her posture in the chair as she responded to Adrin, "Who else would come up with something so...perfect?" the edges of her lips perked upwards. The Vaepora entered slipstream and vanished from the safety of New Noria, headed for the reaches of the Scorpia Cloud.

Once the ship flashed into FTL, she said to him, "So, you didn't get much of a tour..." she stood up, "We won't have time to see everything, but lets at least get you settled into your office space." She motioned Adrin to follow, she headed up the short staircase onto the sub-deck that stretched across the aft section of the bridge and walked into the small offices that were provided for the ship's command staff. It was fairly well decorative, soft hues of blue and grey with the typical Caeyorian decor. It featured a duo-architect style volumetric tapestry desk with an L-shaped extension off each side. Each had a set of datapad harnasses, a niranium cask mug with the ship's patch on it and a backup tactile interface in case the neural link or volumetric interface became unavailable. " They didn't accommodate for separate offices on this class, so the Captain and XO share their space," she explained as she pointed to the left-hand station, "That one can be yours, I've already got the storage locker on my side filled up." She looked around the room, it wasn't much, a viewport, a grey-blue colored couch, and some generic art hung on the walls which would need to be changed to something else when she got around to it.

There was a door on the back wall of the office, opposite to where they entered, "That goes to the Command Simulation Suite, full room package for strategic planning, just a smaller version than the ones on the citadels. I don't care if you use it for personal programs, just make sure any command business gets priority." She took a step back and leaned against the flat part of her desk, "At least we got a new ship, these War Falcons are a lot more comfortable than the previous generation. The Old ones, as you know were built in a hurry, designed to help evacuate Noria and not much else was put into them. You'll like your quarters, I'll show you around the ship once we get this exchange over with, perhaps dinner so we can discuss the mission if you wish?" she asked, as she looked away from him trying not to put him on the spot too much.
