Rebirth

So I think there was an agreement in another post that some form of cataclysm had occurred in the not to distant past. Perhaps a lot of things have fallen apart. The world was always a chaotic mess and perhaps the realm itself dealt with some form of dimensional decay that either killed or disjuncted millions of it's inhabitants. While society still exists many people are still recovering from the trauma that had transpired. Perhaps there is still some level of instability and something must be done to work towards stabilizing the realm?

I'm just throwing ideas out and would love to hear some others, but I feel like we should get some kind of starter plot moving to motivate people into roleplaying.

That would be the first step; to agree on what exactly happened and go from there. What unseen power decided to wipe the slate clean and start anew? An extinction level event? Some sort of magic experiment gone wrong? Just a few examples of what might have occured.. And going from there we can start to piece it back together.

I always imagined something like what happened with the dinosaurs. In Ayenee though the thing that impacted could have been a small planet, the realm was always off. Maybe Ayenee's moon descended down upon the land, whatever hugely powerful beings that existed gave their lives in some noble martyrdom, but only prevented absolute destruction.

Perhaps a comet named Yahell named after the god of creation and destruction descended on the land. Maybe it wasn't just a comet, but some alien ship. Before impact the vehicle's occupants jettisoned and after the intense nuclear or whatever energy blast. The survivors of the world were forced into battle with an alien entity and though the Ayenee citizens won, the world was left in a shabby state.

Maybe all those powerful beings caught the attention of something even more powerful. It came to Ayenee seeking a fight like the rest of the universe had been unable to give it. After the dust cleared the world was left without its protectors and in a state of ruin from the fight that took place.

Maybe some powerful congregation of powerful beings came together to perform some spell to lock out some danger to Ayenee. They may have tampered with powers beyond their combined limitations and brought destruction on themselves and the world.

Or perhaps the constant powers that were always in use within Ayenee were its demise. The constant time travel, plane shifting, massive power sinks leaving magical sinkholes behind. Maybe the lands is being torn apart from the abuse of abilities and magic by its citizens.

Yeah I didn't add question marks, so what?

Maybe it was something like a magical/ technological apocalypse between the two poles of Ayenee. One pole being the one that allows magic the other being that which cancels magic. The two sides brought tech and magic against one another, next thing you know there are natural disasters, nukes, spirit balls, skynets, satellites with laser beams, miniature black holes, dark matter ripped from its mooring, leylines rerouted and destroyed, reality fractured, time tampered with. The war to end all wars.

I actually like the idea of an all powerful force descending upon Ayenee and the thought of heroes and villains working together to stop an almost invincible enemy..

I don't like the idea of the enemy being entirely gone and I feel like "aliens" feels a little awkward. It feels like it would better to assume it was the ancient race that created the realm itself. With the chaos that had descended they felt it necessary to make their presence known and began eradicating or disjoining the denizens of Ayenee. While many tried to stand against them, in the end it was a fruitless battle. The world was heavily scared and much of it's energy drained or weakened in the struggle. The forgers having used so much of the world to save it could no longer return to the realm they once came from. Many of the forgers fled to the outlands worried that a weakened world meant their lives could be endangered, but a few stayed to attempt to control the lands or to rebuild what was lost.

The idea from here is that a festival would be planned as the Capital City celebrates the anniversary of the start of the rebuilding.

Hmm with the rifts about Ayenee all potential scenarios could be relevant. It would give a huge list of things to do, each requiring a different form of approach as each section of Ayenee is reclaimed.
