Mission Twelve: Naze Sorairo

Aether Sphere Innards

William fell through the Aether sphere and was shocked by the artificial biome. He took in the sight, before his sensors started blaring about the ground that was approaching rapidly. His massive black armor turned and fired all his thrusters to slow his decent, but ending up hitting the sand hard enough to cause a massive crater and geyser of sand to plume from his landing.

The Nepleslian peaked at his suits systems and was relieved to find that everything was still in the green. He stood from his crater and scanned the area, noting the water several yards away. Once he received his orders from Eden he looked around, and began moving off towards the water.

Sacre touched down on the beach, reaching for her scanner. Her scanner was a bit different from the others, focused on the medical side of things rather then general science. Although she could see that Wyatt was ok, she swept him with the sensor just to be sure. Then she moved on over to scan William, he had a hard landing. "Despite your typically clumsy maneuvering. It seems you somehow manged to avoid injuring yourself." She commented, pairing up with him and starting to scan the surrounding area. She suspected that they were in another third universe somehow. However, she wasn't the expert on such things.

William turned to face Sacre and smirked, though she couldn't see it. "Gotta love cybernetics." He chuckled softly as she moved next to him. "I say that we head over towards those snow caps and try to locate anything out that way." He said to her, pinging the mountains out in the distance. "I'll take point."

With that he started walking towards the mountains in the distance. Once he was clear of Sacre, he fired his thrusters and propelled himself skyward. He hovered for a moment to allow Sacre to catch up, then turned towards the mountains and flew. "Stay low to the ground, don't want to set off their sensors." He added over their comms.

Gravity gave her captain a gracious bow like that of an actor upon a stage and leaned back in her chair with her hands behind her head. Of course she'd done good, she thought, she was only the best Fuji pilot in the universe!

"Yeah, I'm just green with envy." She replied silently to Sacre. Yeah, no, the bridge was much better, thanks.

Wyatt had seen the large, dark suit of armour plummet down and reflexively raised an arm to shield his face from the wall of sand that had been kicked up, although it didn't really change much in grand scheme of things, sand still clung to his body even as he floated to the ground and was scanned by Sacre, to whom he gave a curt nod.

With his rifle cradled in his arms and his scanners set how he was commanded to do so, the marksman made his way over to his assigned partner, the heads up display giving some info about the Nekovalkyrja that Wyatt briefly glanced at before observing with his own eyes

"So, how do you wish to go about doing this?"

"Negative Chusa."
Whilst monitoring the data link between the ground team and the ship itself, Nerai made sure to keep an eye on the kaiyo's stealth shielding at all times. "The vast and irregular emission of all this aetheric energy is covering our discrete comm link with static. Not enough to disturb our data, but enough to not make it stand out over longer ranges. However, that does mean communications might get more difficult as the team descends deeper into the structure........Actually now that i think of it, if it does, Strong-hei's position might be more favourable, acting as a middle station to ensure a stronger connection."

Even then, Nerai couldn't help but take an occasional peek at the visuals the ground team had sent their way, looking at the many colourful spews of flaming energy erupting from that golden globe. It brought up many questions, as it did with everyone involved, of course. Still the snake couldn't help but ask herself, and no-one else in particular. "All that aether....what's it all doing in one place.....?"

Sorairo - Submerged......or not?

Having hastily chased after the others, the long, slim noodlebody of the snake cut through the rushing water like buter, quickly regrouping with the rest at the aetherproofed platform. "It really is..... Good thing aetheric weapons aren't the only heat we're packing! Aether-proof ain't no good if it crumbles with one good hit right?"

Upon Eden's cue, the Super-Solid-Snake tumbled downwards, right towards one of the smaller aether exhausts, shooting through the still glowing port like it was made to fit his size......just barely. Almost at the end of the tunnel, the wall was starting to light up with that unmistakable glow again, letting him zip out the other end just seconds before it closed back up again with another eruption. "Phew......that was a tad too hot for my liking."

Sorairo - Aether Sphere Interior

With a somewhat elegant 'swoosh', the snake came to a steady stop just above the sandy surface, plopping down with a soft but noticable 'thump'. Making sure his munitions had survived that close encounter of the toasty kind, he checked them all once more. All accounted for. Now time to look for the teal-clad robot that had been designated as his wingman....woman....robot? Not sure how that works, but it does, so he just went about finding Care for the time being.

With their numbers, it didn't take long. With scanner in hand, he joined up with Care to start their search for..... something. "Yo! Ready to go? You're better at these things than me so i don't mind you taking the lead." His statement was only emphasized by the fact he was holding the scanner upside-down. Even if it was almost impossible to get it wrong, he somehow managed to do so. "I'll be better off with doing the fighting, should things get hectic... Don't hesitate to take cover behind me if ya need to! I got armor to spare." He said with a small chuckle, wiggling the far end of his tail around in demonstration.

Miles quickly followed behind Shasse as she emerged from the tunnel into the strange biom within, the two looked at each other before slowly descending down onto the ground and looking around the new surroundings trying to discern why exactly something like this would even exist here. "What do you make of this Shasse?" The minakn asked pulling out his own scanner and investigating the composition of the sand looking for anything synthetic to suggest how such a place existed.

"Hmm," came the reply from the small neko as she kicked some sand around before taking out her scanner and after a brief moment of quickly accessing the manual in her mind switched it to scan mode and waved it around clearly not having used it much prior. "I guess it's kinda cool, and a little strange when I think about it but you're the science nerd so I'll leave it to you to worry about." Shasse poked him in the head before waving the scanner around and making some humming sounds.

Miles shook his head fully expecting this to happen, she was never one for science and preferred to just jump straight into action. However he wondered why everyone but them was put into pairs while the were left to obviously join forces by themselves, well it wasn't important at this moment so he simply went back to checking the sand and other ground with his scanner checking to make sure his blue friend wasn't getting in any trouble.

"Yeah, we'll find out sooner enough," Walter responded to Arete. He looked around him again for a few seconds, and then back at his partner. "I guess this is the part where those parallels between Treasure Planet and 'Sea World' end; the inside of the Lost Planet looked prettier than here. This place is just..."

He scooped some sand, analyzed the pile with a scanner for mineral composition and traces of microorganisms, and allowed it to slip through his fingers when he finished. "It's rubbing me the wrong way, I guess." Walter isn't sure what to really expect here; all this 'dimension hopping' is still very new to him, whereas Eden and the others don't seem all too phased by this. Even Arete seemed to be fine with it, really.

Chlorate sat in her chair fairly still, remaining alert for incoming targets and the captain's orders. Speaking of which, Chlorate tried to hide her nervousness, but Mark would definitely know what was on her mind via Geist connection.

When soldiers got sick enough to abandon posts it was hardly ever a small thing, they were either demanded to step back through their own lack of want to the Medical Bay where they seemed ill at ease or they willingly did so. In her experience she found that the ones who left their posts of their violation due to illness of any kind typically did so with good reason. In this case it was more than a simple bellyache of gas buildup or simple indigestion, which in small amounts could be worked around and would be worked around, especially by the near-perfect Neko super-soldiers that Yamatai mass produced. Due to the level of self-discipline and genetic drive, she tended to take such issues seriously, and treated the ones who had come in as such.

She had taken good time apart from everyone else when possible, though for Care that was hardly abnormal. She wasn't one to reach out for social interaction first, much to the displeasure of those who waited for her to reach out first. A curious dilemma, a need for social reliance yet a refusal to be the one to initiate it. Regardless a great many things had been on Care's mind as of late, and because today was a mission meant no difference to her demons. Rather than let her faults build up and fail her and disappoint the crew once more (they had never said such things, but that never stopped self-doubt), she had taken precautionary measures this time, and ensured, as far as her own experiences knew, that she would complete the duties she was tasked with, with diligence and focus she typically lacked.

What she had done was fairly simple for her, though she found it difficult to explain beyond a form of auto-pilot that was self aware enough to do her work, while she sat in a metaphorical drivers seat, able to influence the actions and purpose. It allowed her to talk as she was, and to do the job she had come here to do. In a simple sense she had divided her thought processes, with her emotions taking the backburner to what was seen as more important, the mission. After all, what use was a medic if everyone else had to watch after her infinitely more than the proper order of it? There was a downside, one she was reluctant to give up. It became more difficult to express emotion through her facial plates and tone of voice without restoring her own full control, giving her all the more artificial vibes that she wished to be rid of, but given the troubles of the last mission it was a sacrifice she was willing to make. The crew came first, not her, after all. She had been avoiding Mark for such a reason, as he had become adamant about assisting her when all she wanted was for things to go back to normal.

------------------------

The Aether-Sphere, interior section, dotted with an environmental terrain that seemed all too welcoming to some form of life, if not multiple. Their objective for the moment was simple, passively scan, wait for further instructions, and watch after one another. Her own gear was masterfully donned, done by the book and with mechanical precision. Though with gear meant for organic use that meant little, but she still felt compelled to take silent pride in the small things. Her head turned to serpentine member of the crew 'Abart,' who had been assigned with Care for this section of the mission.

"Your scanner is upside down." She remarked calmly after the snake spoke, taking in what he said as the synthetic woman glanced around to the others. "We're going to take a branching path from the others, to get a good coverage of information, it will increase our chances of finding out the information that can be picked up in this region." Is this what a Rank 3 SI felt like? To have a focused objective at all times without the worry of greater thought interfering? It almost felt good. She began to start her pace onward, her scanning equipment odd as she set out to find the standard flow and rhythm of the information, a large influx of information was only marginally useful if they didn't have what could be considered standard, after all. "...I'm sorry if I seem cold." She found herself saying regardless of her intention. "I've just had a hard time balancing things lately."

Aether Sphere Innards

Alastair gave a quick nod to Eden as he followed along beside her. He thought it funny that she after the fact put everyone in groups of two as he had tried to do before they jumped. This is not to say there was something wrong with this but none the less gave him a small chuckle.

This was his first time working directly with Eden and did not wish to disappoint her by not being the first to find whatever it was they were looking. In fact what were they scanning for using only passive sensors. This would take forever using only passive. Granted he knew this was being done as to not indicate to the enemy they were there.

He walked off a few steps away from Eden and checked his scanners. "So Eden, anything specific we are looking for? Maybe an access panel?" He asked of her.

Aether Sphere Innards

Eden had recognized that Alastair was not so much inwardly laughing at something and she said, "I am guessing you noticed I went against my plan of not splitting up, I'll tell you why - this is not what we were expecting. Heavy enemy resistance has usually been seen inside here, not this. Whatever this is, it's unexpected. I'm relying on your wisdom, now, to back up this team as we search and destroy in this environment." She patted his Mindy on the back as she watched the teams split.

Peio Muyomi with her bright blueish sea foam green hair bobbed up to Wyatt and responded to him, "I want to go swimming..." she led him to the water's edge and began stomping into the wet sand, which sunk down with each footfall until she was waist deep. She looked to Wyatt's position on her HUD and asked, "Doing okay?"

The many craters the team had left in the beach were easy to pick one's way around on foot, but most of the away team would find flying about as they scanned and searched.

Everyone's scanners would read differently depending on the attachment.

Hoshi said to Nerai at safety and systems, "You're doing all you can, arigatou. Let's see what we can do about making sure we have eyes on Strong's position. What more can the bridge's eyes tell me from what the away team is picking up?"

Aether Sphere Innards

Sacre followed behind William, hugging the ground as they darted through the air. "I'm picking up a life form." She reported, zeroing in on where it was. She marked the location on the maps that they were making of the area. "We're heading in to check it out." She added, changing course towards the lifeform. She was cautious, but also curious about what kind of lifeform they had found. The back of her mind was that they were probably going to have to shoot it.

"Mark-hei reporting in. Request to deploy drones for recon and surveillance actions? All feeds as well as from my eyes can be linked. I can provide optimized targeting solutions in addition to more eyes on the area. Maybe I should build a condo here.", Mark said professionally over the comms as he followed Walter and Arete still, but adding the last part with a soft chuckle.

He sensed Chlorate's nervousness and it's source.

[Chlo honey stay focused. You can ask the captain out later, but we have work to do. Make me proud, and tell Nerai I love her.]

"Hmm, I guess it's okay.", Orias said in Mark's mind.

"So, suggestions guys?", Mark asked Walter and Arete. He knew Eden said pairs of two, but he didn't have anyone to pair with.

Aether Sphere Innards

William glanced the information he received from Sacre and watched as she vectored towards the lifesign. "Roger. En route to target." He reported.

His armor performed a roll to bring him about to the right heading and flared his engines, catching up to his teammate. The Nepleslian smiled as he flew alongside her. He enjoyed flying greatly. He let himself enjoy watching everything passing quickly below him, before he forced himself to focus on the objective at hand.

Aether Sphere Innards

As Sacre and William flew they quickly began an ascent up the mountainous beginnings of the range and were clipping the clouds as they reached new heights.

Eden called out, "Mark-hei, Surisinus, Hyde-hei, back up the two in the mountains. The rest of you, full spread."

"Swimming... huh"
Wyatt decided to humour the Neko's suggestion, maybe there was some reasoning to her strange ide...

Then she proceeded to half disappear into the damp sand, causing the marksman's brow to furrow under his helmet as he peered down to her. "Yes I'm quite alright but... may I ask why you are half buried in the sand?" He asked as he crouched down on his haunches and grabbed a fistfull of sand, letting it run through his fingers.

It was just normal, silica sand, but he had this nagging feeling that something was off about this place.

Aether! Sphere! INNARDS!

Walter put away his chemical scanner, and sighed. "Well Mark-hei, the best we can do is stand by, scan and recon, maybe-"

It was at this point Eden gave an order to Walter, Arete, and Mark; a bit earlier than expected, but that's not worth complaining about. "- And that's our cue. Arete, Mark-hei, we're following Eden's orders!"

Wait, why am I- You know what, I won't question it. The young Hyde rocketed off, towards he general direction of the mountains, using the heart emoticons to keep track of William and Sacre's trajectory.

Chlorate looked up and instantly turned to Nerai, calling out across the bridge "Jôtô Heisho Nerai, father has instructed me to tell you he loves you." While it wasn't a yell or excessively loud, everyone on the bridge could hear it. Poor Chlorate didn't intend any harm, but she may just have caused it. She turned back to her station and thought. [Father, what is asking out? Do I have to ask a question to a specific part of her? Do I have to ask her "out?"] Chlorate also quietly muttered her geist message audibly. This time it was much more quiet, so not everyone on the bridge could hear her, however, those next to Chlorate might hear it.

Chusa Taiyou Hoshi put a hand over a wide smile as to hide it from the rest of the bridge after Chlorate's proclamation, then lowered it with a more somber expression on her face before she spoke.

"Let me know which weapons are able to fire at Strong's position in case she comes under CQC and which are on the surrounding area, Chlorate. Gravity-hei, how is our position and main weapon array?"
