(Back, and I was hoping to see SJ NPC my character while I was out of state this weekend....>.> Alright, back to it.)

Ahlias
HP: 12
AC: 13

Ahlias had been following them, reading again the old map the Cannith woman had given them. They entered the stairway, and Ahlias found himself in the back. He would have rather liked the front, but he understood that the back of the line was also a place of danger, and he reasoned the front would be a better place for one with sharper eyes than he.

As they descended, the Warrior found himself glancing over his shoulder more and more, the darkness there deeper because of the torchlight that flitted ahead of him. He had a sensation, like they might not be the only ones down here. It only got worse the lower they went.

Ahlias glanced at the strange Elf and frowned, "Allow me to take the back. In the dark, you can't rightly tell which direction your enemies might come."

Again the sensation of uneasiness washed over. Alo was a spellcaster, he imagined from the talk of his friends, but he was still a bit strange. Ahlias found he liked the man well enough, not knowing him all that well.

"Alo, if you don't mind my intrusion, what brings you here, to Sharn and thus these deep places?"

Alo
HP: 7/7
AC: 11 (ff:10, vt:11)

Alo shrugged and let Ahlias follow him down the staircase.

"Kyru and I just thought it was time to see somewhere new."

{OOC: Just waiting to make sure Jai is still with us. The only slot left for him is 3rd, but I don't want to get so far ahead he gets left behind.}

Kyru
HP:7/7
AC:16 (FF:12, T:14)

He was more comfortable at the end of the line, but Kyru wasn't about to argue with Alo about it. Sparking a lamp, Kyru fell in between and amongst the group, quietly listening to Alo and Ahlias.

He scanned the area ahead of them as best as he could, his elven eyes keener in the dark than the humans that surrounded him.

(Spot Check, just for the heluvit. (1d20+4=23))

The group follows the staircase down the tower, single-file. With each step down, the odor of mold and sewage grows stronger, and you can hear liquid sounds increasing in volume as you descend. Finally, the stairs take one last turn and you can see the bottom of the stairs. Kyru, you're keen senses allow you to see an attacker in waiting just as he moves to attack Ahlias.

{OOC: Jai gets to act in the Surprise round. Remember, only a standard action.
I'll have a map up sometime tonight. For now, just realize that you won't be able to attack this round because of the cramped quarters.

The rest of you will get to act during round 1.}

Surprise Round

Initiative:
Kyru - 28
Valves - 20
Ahlias - 19
Amnile - 17
Alo - 9
Gorfan - 5
Warforged - 4

You match the color you picked back in the OOC thread. The black disk is the Warforged attacking.

Sneakiness for the win.

Kyru
HP:7/7
AC:16 (FF:12, T:14)

Seeing the danger, Kyru immediately snuffs his torch, falls back to the shadows, and attempts to hide to await striking at a more advantageous moment. Quickly, he moves to the right wall, just shy of the entrance.

(To hide. (1d20+6=25))

Warforged

The Warforged emergest from the shadows. His rapier pierces the air with deadly efficiency, and he attacks Ahlias. Because Ahlias is flat-footed, the assailant manages to induce even more damage. (4 dmg)

"You have the provost's journal." the warforged says. It is not a question. "Give me the journal and you can live to see another day. Refuse and we will make your deaths slow and painful."

{OOC: Ok, the dice hate me for this combat apparently.}

Round 1

Initiative:
Kyru - 28
Valves - 20
Ahlias - 19
Amnile - 17
Shifters - 12
Alo - 9
Gorfan - 5
Warforged - 4

{OOC: Go to town, guys}

Kyru's attack strikes the warforged from his position and the Acid splashes across his body, eating away at his metallic flesh.

A bit of the acid also splashes on Ahlias, who is standing within the splash range. (1 Acid dmg)

From behind the group, a sound of a rush of water can be heard as one of the valves (#6) in the hallway opens and releases a jet of water. The jet closes and the flow of water returns to normal.

Surprised!

Ahlias
HP: 7/12
AC: 13

Ahlias knew his perceptions were correct when he felt the sting of a blade slice across his shoulderblade and across his back. Thankfully, it wasn't deep, but it stung!

The Warrior grimaced as he turned, seeing the strike of the Warforged from the dark and the callous creatures words. His response was swift, and his greatsword was out before the Warforged finished his speaking. A bit of acid struck him, and Ahlias pushed the pain away. The Warforged his only target.

A growl, and Ahlias thrust around the extended rapier and the arm that held it - his sword was bigger!

And he knew he had hit by the way his sword moved through...the force behind it, the angression rushing through his own bloodstream from the shock of being hit from behind.

Attack Roll: 25 - Critical Hit! Attacking the Warforged. (1d20+5=25)

Threat Roll: 17 - Threat Roll for Critical Hit. (1d20+5=17)

If Normal Damage: 10 Normal Damage (2d6+4=10)

(Pwned)

Ahlias' attack strikes true, but it was not as critical of a wound as it initially appeared. Still, the warforged is heavily damaged. He was clearly not expecting this kind of resistance. A sharp whistle is given and down the hall, you can hear splashing footsteps coming. Two shifters appear beyond the section of valves (See location B on map) and appear ready to join the fight.

{OOC: Who's pwned now, bitch?

Everyone here would be aware that Shifters are a race of humanoids who are basically half human, half werewolf. They can't turn completely into a wolf, but they can 'shift' int some hybrid form.}

Amnile
HP 9/9
AC 13

Amnile steps infront of Gorfan putting himself between the dwarf and the shifters. This was a tactical move allowing gorfan to move closer to the other party members to cast healing spells as needed without the shifters interupting. Well in theory anyways. Amnile draws his sling.

Shifters

Both shifters charge forward, drawing weapons as their features turn animalistic. The first one reaches out and rakes his claws across Amnile, (4 Slashing dmg)

The second shifter keeps pace with his companion and digs his claws into Amnile as well (5 Slashing dmg)

Alo

Alo casts a spell, targetting the two shifters. One of the shifters closes his eyes and passes out. The other looks at his napping companion, looking rather upset that he is sleeping on the job.
