Age of Worms

I'm going Ranger > Weretouched master. I'm happy to play a ranger in an urban environment. I can still do stuff, might even be able to find an urban variant I can use.

Interesting. I was thinking you might go ReachRunner. But weretouched master is cool too. You definitely don't want to go Urban Ranger if you intend to go weretouched master though. the two ideals are pretty polar opposites.

Alright. I've got some suggestions for you each to think about as you muddle with your characters. They are only suggestions, but they may help you integrate into the landscape of the town easier..

As a shifter, its important to determine whether you are a child of the wilds, or a member of 'civilized' society. I put up details on the front page about the Bronzewood Lodge, which is a good place for traditional rangers to be associated with. Alternatively, you might be a scout for the Garrison. If you are going with a less traditional ranger, like an urban ranger, consider somehow being attached to the police force, or a hired thug or snoop for one of the mine managers.

As a warforged, your ability to work tirelessly is ideal for a mine-worker. Thats why I wanted you to save a couple points for a profession(miner). Alternatively, you may be a member of the Garrison, putting the skills you learned in the Last War to use in law enforcement and protection. If thats the case, consider putting those ranks into spot or listen instead of profession.

As an artificer, you may be apprenticed to Allustan, hoping to learn more secrets of magic from him to further your ability to master infusions and craft magical items. Or you might be a well-paid expert on the maintenance crew, who is commissioned to maintain the equipment that pumps fresh air into the mines by some officials in Sharn. You would be under the direct supervision of Lanod Neff in that case.

Barbarians may chafe under the yoke of civilized society. Alternatively, you could be somehow associated with the Bronzewood Lodge, and maintain your ties to the wild. Or you could be one of the rare shifters who joined civilized society by choice, and is trying to find your place in it.

Perhaps, more than anyone else, you are here against your will. Maybe you commited some crime and are a mine-worker on some sort of work-release program. Your strength of arm would be most welcome in the dark and gloom. Or perhaps you are a hired thug for one of the mine managers. Being unable to find any legitimate work, you are paid to strong-arm those who get in the way of the mine manager's schemes.

As a Jorasco healer, you would have close ties to the Healing House located in town. Probably a regular employee. Perhaps indentured even. Normally, you bandage the wounds of miners who got into a barroom brawl. On a very rare occassion, you tend to the wounds of a foolish adventurer, who went into the Cairns looking for gold and came out with nothing but scorch marks, a few broken bones, and some bruised ribs.

Alright, Babe in the Woods is finally done with the final battle, and will most likely be done before Monday.

I'd like all of you to go over your characters, finish them off, polish them, add a sprig of parsley, and have them ready for presentation on Monday. In the unlikely event that the Woods carries on beyond that, I'll do my final review of characters the day after the woods officially ends.

When I review your character, it should be complete. If it isn't, we won't be able to start until it is. Once I've approved all your characters, I'll create the IC thread, and we will begin play. Should have questions about your char, or need assistance, I'll try to be available all today, most of tomorrow, and most of Sunday and Monday. Saturday will not be possible. If I'm not available, ask your co-players. Many of them are equally, or more talented than me and can be a valuable resource. Especially when it comes to making sure that your characters are compatible.

Make sure that you are about to start playing the character that you have always dreamed of playing. This campaign will go all the way to level 20. If you look how many months it has taken the shadows game to get to level 4, you will realize that means this game will last for more than a year. If you get tired of your character before we hit level 4, you will probably not enjoy the game nearly as much as you would otherwise.

However, also keep in mind that characters die sometimes. Should that happen, you should have a backup in mind to serve as a replacement. Something you will be equally satisfied with for the long term.

Well, I believe Hazrad has been ready for the past while. Just added a bit of description to him, and added his XP state.

Possible backup? Dependant on how far this progresses before needing a backup....Probably go Dwarf if too early, or poison dusk lizardfolk if later (and you allow it).

I believe Slade is ready. My other question though, which is more directed toward the PCs and not the DM, is if some of our characters will know each other or know of each other.

Correct me if I'm wrong SJ, but starting characters usually get their full HD worth of HP plus constitution. Which would mean that Slade would start out with 14 hp, not 12.

Mohan

Mohan grew up with his parents in a small hamlet a few miles from Diamond Lake. Both of his parents were shifters, and his father was as skilled a hunter as any in the region. Mohan as a youth was trained in the same techniques. To track, to read the signs of the wild, to move unseen and unheard. When he grew older, he moved into the town himself to seek work. There isn't much work in a mining town for a Shifter who's only real skills are in the wilds, but he found himself attached to the town's garrison on a freelance basis.

He was quicker than most, he could hold a sword and he could shoot a bow, so they used him as a scout and a tracker when needed. When his services were not required, he would act as a guide for travellers, or he would join nobles from Sharn as they hunted in the wilds to the North of their own city. The work was enough for him to start putting coin away, or sending it home, and as he saw it, it was a living, and he was free enough that he could walk away if something better came along.

You are correct, Oscuro. Level 1 characters get full HP + CON modifier.

And Colvin, some of your characters will know eachother. Some will not.

For example, you will know Lowthor's char, since you are both associated with the Garrison.

Fortus Gorreldan

Fortus' parents had resided in the Mournland when it had been Cyre but the Last War and the cataclysmic events that occurred as a result of the clash between the armies of Breland, Karrnath and Thrane. His parents, Tiland and Gerreta Gorreldan, both gifted artificers who had served Cyre well with their exceptional skill, went into the Breland from the devastation that was once their homeland and settled in Diamond Lake. Before long disease wracked the small household and Fortus was left on his own at the age of eight. As a result of his parents' death, Fortus was taken into the care of Allustan, whose skill in artificing had drawn the kinship of his family from their beginnings in Diamond Lake as artificers from the dead nation of Cyre.

Fortus himself is a young man who is confident by nature and is generally eager to learn the secrets of infusion, but at times he can sink into dark moods which hinder his studies into artificing (these moods relating to his troubled early childhood). He also shows great apitude for infusions and repairing constructed items. In more recent times Fortus yearns for a more enobled life of travelling the world of Khorvaire and possibly beyond to learn the extent of his artificing skills.

I decided not to wait, so we could try to start sooner. Here are the things I found so far.

Your Infusions need to have the DC listed. Its 10 + Infusion Level + INT

You need to select a second feat, because you are human.

Uncheck the Weapon/Armor boxes for entries that you aren't using to clean your sheet up.

The Craft Pool isn't really related to your infusions, so you should probably move it to the Other Info section, or to the Special Abilities section.

Your Skill Points don't add up properly. Make sure you have spent the proper number, including the bonus for being human.

You don't have a certain number of Infusions known. You know all infusions of the appropriate level. Nor do you have to prepare them. You can cast any of them you like. You are only restricted by how many you can cast per day and what level.

You need to select a second Bonus language due to high Int.

I'd like to see the benefits for a Longstrider listed in your Special Abilities box.

You don't have a backpack? WHile that isn't a problem, I want to knwo how you are carrying your posessions. A belt pouch can't carry very much.

Your Free suit of clothing should not list its weight. It does not count towards encumberance.

Your HP is too high now. Fighters get 1d10+CON. not 1d12.

Your Weapons are missing their Critical listing.

Missing info for your weapon's critical.

The entry on these forms for Type means weapon damage. That is wher eyou would put bludgeoning. one-handed can go in special properties.

You need to add the weight for the rest of your items.

Need a link to your new character sheet.

Hazrad Thwamgale D'Jorasco

Hazrad had lived on the open plains of Talenta, learning some of the ways of the dinosaur wrangler from his father, but he lacked the strength and agility to truly be like his father. His mother began teaching him here ways, a she had been a healer for House Jorasco before abandoning the house to join his father. However, when his Mark of Healing showed itself on the base of his neck, Hazrad's mother had to take him back to Jorasco, and face her own penalties for abandoning the house.

Hazrad was immediately relocated from the plains to Sharn, where he underwent further training. Yet, people grew uncomfortable with this tribesman in the city, and he was cast out to Diamond Lake as his post. He was stationed with another young healer, who taught Hazrad that Diamond Lake was a place to silence that which Jorasco wished to be kept quiet. Such as an illegitimate child born outside the House.

Now, Hazrad had stayed in Diamond Lake, healing the foolish, and the drunk. Tending to the sick and ill, looking for a way out of this slum. Looking for a way to redeem his honor.

Your Craft skill needs to specify which brand of crafting you are trained in. I believe you picked Armorsmithing.

Your Craft skill needs to specify which brand of crafting you are trained in. I believe you picked Weaponsmithing.

Also, Allustan is not an Artificer. He is a wizard.

Feats, Skills, Equipment, Backstory

Hazrad = Done

Mohan = Done

All characters are in and accepted.

I'll be putting up an IC thread tomorrow. I will be starting focused on a single character. Possibly two. The rest will be introduced as is appropriate.

Lady and Gentlemen, we have an IC thread.

I've started off with Jaiden, and Mohan, you can enter the scene at any time. The rest of you should wait in the wings until I pull you in. Don't worry, it won't take very long. If all goes well, everyone will be involved by the end of the day tomorrow.
