[A-Files] Pre-Episode One: Briefing

Command Lab
"Oh uh... th-thanks?" Trilis nervously said. Her wings twitched and fluttered when they were poked. Trilis stared at where she was getting poked, but her vision was partially obscured by her own wings which were acting as large blue obstacles blocking her line of sight to her back. She was getting weirded out and nervous, especially since she couldn't see Kayla poking her well due to her wings, causing her tail's red fur to poof up again.

"You're welcome!" Kayla giggled as she stopped poking Trillis. She moved from behind her wings to right in front of her, with a small just of air.

"I'm Kayla Firestride! What about chu?"
She enthusiastically said, waiting for a response.

"I'm-... I'm Trilis," she said, partially stuttering out of shyness. She looked up at Kayla, adjusting her thick-lensed glasses. She peered at her face, but her eyes quickly drifted to the side- she felt shy making eye contact.

Tsubei Kyoka said, "We will first begin exploring gang activity in the Capital of Ayenee, thus very important to the safety and well-being of the citizens. There has been a large amount of potions being illegally exported away from Ayenee, all coming from the capital."

"A very nice name indeed Trilis-"

Kayla was bumped from behind, his brother trying for her to pay more attention to their commanders orders to the sparkling wings of the strange hybrid.

Kai himself had awknoledged the orders with a "Yes ma'am"

Werner looked up from his Grimoire as Tsubei spoke. "Understood Ma'am. Is there any information on the gang itself? "He asked, slipping the leather bound back into his jacket.

"They are a group of shape-shifting aliens able to take the form of atmospheric conditions as well as that of humanoids," she put a hand up and the volumetric display showed a humanoid body of a greenish grey coloring, long, spindly arms, and a bulbous head with larger than average eyes and little to no nose. "They can shift from this, which is not a rarity of a form to have on Ayenee," Kyoka explained, "to this." The volumetric display showed the form vanish and soon become a cloudy image where the humanoid had been. Then, rain sprung from the cloud and landed on the volumetric display's base. "Then, back to this," Kyoka said, lifting her hand as the puddle turned back into the grey humanoid.

"Interesting..."

Kayla said as she went to inspect the picture closer. As a tracker class she could probably sniff down the scent of this new creature. Unfortunately she didn't know what to be looking for, or if they could shapeshift to succesfully hide themselves from the Firestrides senses.

"Where should we start?" Said the other Firestride sibling.

Werner watched the display as the creatures performed their transformations. "Fascinating... they can turn their bodies into water vapor?" The captain said to himself, studying the display intensely. "If that is the case, this will be an interesting mission to say the least."

"We start at an ex-warehouse of theirs to help you pick up the scent," the squad leader said, then turned to the bald man.

"I agree fully and wholeheartedly," Kyoka said to Werner, steepling her hands. "We will be going in unarmored and immediately. Is everyone ready?"

The resident mage smirked as he stood. "Of course Ma'am." He replied, straightening his beret and looked to the others gathered around.

"Let's get this show on the road."

"As in... now?" Trilis asked. "Do they have any special weapons or abilities? How do we catch them in their gaseous form?" Trilis was a little worried at the thought of going into an abandoned warehouse that presumably had some relation to a gang unarmored. She didn't consider it an immediate danger since she hadn't even seen the warehouse yet, but she was concerned. While she did have access to quite potent fire and heat magic, she wasn't exactly the biggest or the strongest on the team.

Xorn had been absentmindedly checking his assault rifle over when he suddenly lifted his head as the word 'gaseous' but his own gaseous form dulled a little underneath the metal shell when he realized it wasn't one of his own people, it had been... too long since he had come across another Ab Homine Caelesti, if he had tear ducts they would probably wetten a little at this thought.

"Well this is all fairly/quite fun-sounding but what constitutes for armour? would I it be preferable for me to step out of my containment suit?" the star-man asked the squad leader.

Kyoka looked a little concerned as she said, "No, in no way should you. By unarmored I mean, no Mindy or Daisy... No power armor. We can wear tactical gear and our usual apparel. I don't want us standing out, but feel free to strap on a flak vest and a civilian NSP Type 33." She showed them to a storage locker that contained both and said to Trillis, "If in gaseous form, we will contain ourselves in helmets with special containment fields based on the SAoY's AMTC that also have emitters to contain a gaseous creature in front of one's self." She removed a half dozen or so helmets from another storage locker and handed them out. They looked more like trucker hats than helmets, only bulkier and made of tough materials. "We will be finding out the efficacy of this system as we work, but I'm sure we'll be quick-witted if all else fails."

Werner followed Kyoka to the storage lockers and strapped on a flak vest under his trench coat. As she said that they would be using the AMTC to contain the aliens in their gaseous forms, he added. "If I may, I can create singularities, pockets in space that I can use to hold the creatures in place if need be."

Trilis got up and inspected her helmet, which had to be specially modified to fit her foot long bug antennae. The short butterfly walked over and took a Type 33, though she didn't bother with the flak vest as it would likely interfere with her wings, if it even fit. "Do we have bags, or anything to store the helmets in until we need them?" asked the nerd.

The Firestride twins had already equipped the flak best and the type 33s, now ready for action.

"Ready" both said, in perfect unison.
