The night was still, the leaves lay motionless, the air still and the moon full, it's beams cast shadows upon the ground, or were they?

The woman walked slowly down the deserted street, her eyes shifting back and forth watching for any signs of life that may suddenly jump out of the darkness. A cold chill ran down her spine, you know that feeling that you get when your imagination starts creepin you out.

Reaching the corner of the block the woman stopped before crossing the street. The hair on the back of her neck rose just as she realized someone was standing directly behind her. Quickly she moved stepping off the curb, and upon doing so she didn't see the car speeding towards her. Like a deer caught in the headlights of a oncoming car she turned dazed facing the car.

The man had experienced a tough day at the office. He'd been running at nearly forty calls an hour at the call centre...various people enquiring about problems on their computer systems and routers. The company had given him this job at their blessing, but Richard was feeling rather restless and confined in his current position. Richard felt the need for significant change within his life....

While thinking this thought, his car's headlights picked up a woman suddenly stepping onto the road and a man-sized shape close behind her. Richard slammed his foot hard on the brakes and swerved crazily to avoid hitting the woman. Once stopped, Richard turned his attention to the woman and her following assailant...

The car almost on top of her but suddenly two strong arms wrapped around her petite form lifting her out of the way just as the car sped under them. She screamed clenching her eyes shut until her feet were planted back onto solid ground.
"What the?!?"

Turning herself around in a confussed state she just stood there gazing at the now stopped vehicle.
"How the hell did?"

She stopped trying to figure out what just happpened, there were no answers to be found. The figure she thought was behind her was gone, the car should of run her down but didn't, maybe she was dead?
She dropped to her knees waiting for some sort of explanation for what just went down, but for the life of her she couldn't come up with one.

The impact of the cessation of the car moving caused a certain amount of whiplash on Richard's part. The effort that was required of him while stopping was tiring enough, and the minor whiplash that he experienced during the incident didn't help him much either. Richard, after a few minutes of recovering himself, made as if to climb out of the car and then froze. There was a woman standing on the side of the road...roughly the same or similar size as the woman who mysteriously lifted into the air as he passed, causing him to slam down on the brakes.

The woman, upon closer inspection, seemed to look youngish and had long black hair. She was obviously wrapped up well in a woolen jumper against the biting winds of that night. She was of petite kind...a small person to say the least. Richard, upon making these important observations, prepared to speak.

" My dear woman, how is it that you wander the streets at this time?" Richard inquired anxiously," and what was that shadow behind you? Did that shadow have anything, however little, to do with your salvation from near-certain injury or even death from my driving?"

Richard looked on, awaiting an answer to his searching question.

The woman some what shakin turned her head towards the man, her body trembling, her eyes wide, but she seemed to not be focusing on the man speaking to her put past him. Not answering she turned her head back around and looked acrossed the road.
"How did I get over here?" she asked.

Her tone was soft but yet the man could tell that something was definately wrong with her. Her right arm raised, her index finger pointed to the spot were she was standing just a few moments ago.
"How did I get over here?", she asked again but this time the tone in her voice seemed more emotional.

The woman still seemed not to hear the man as he continued to question her. Then without looking she stepped back into the street heading toward the corner she was on just moments ago as if searching for something.

The woman in front of Richard seemed to be pointing in the direction of the street corner with the streetlight. As far he could see, there was nothing of note there, but what was that thing that was there for a split second before he nearly ran the woman down? He studied the darkness carefully, searching for an ususual shadow within the darkness....he thought once that the noticed a shadow lengthening quickly, but that could have been a swaying tree branch. Richard turned his attention back to the young woman in front of him, still pointing frantically at the street corner where she claimed she had been lifted and placed on the road.

Richard touched the woman's hand lightly and continued to speak reassuringly.
" I cannot see this thing that you speak of that sent into the air and onto the road, but all the same I feel that you need to tell me your name before I question you any further about what you saw"
The woman was silent for a short moment, as if hesitating to do as he bade, but then made as if to speak.

The woman slowly turned her body around and faced the man whom was speaking to her. Her eyes shifted back to the corner across the street then back upon the man's face. As if trying to find her voice her mouth moved to form the words but yet she didn't speak. Instead she pulled her hand away from the man's grasp and stepped back.

"I want to go home."
Her voice just a whisper upon the mans ears. With that said she proceeded to walk away and headed down along the side of the road vanishing into the darkness.

Richard watched as the young woman slowly walked away from him after mouthing 'I want to go home'. The fact that she had not spoken her name and had walked away before he could formulate more questions to ask of her was rather worrying. It was as if she was afraid to reveal her identity for fear of being overheard by an unseen presence....but if there was someone nearby, they were keeping very quiet indeed. Richard simply stood there pondering all this before an impulsive urge commanded him to call her back for fear of her placing herself in even more danger by walking home with a potental pursuer behind her.

" Hey!" Richard shouted urgently running towards where she was disappearing," Why do you wish to walk alone on this night after such a shock?"

The ensuing silence after his remark seemed to reflect the woman's understandable reluctance to accept a lift with a man whom she had only known for a few minutes, but his own intentions were sincere weren't they? Getting her into safety away from these sparsely-lit streets? Suddenly the bushes ten metres ahead of him began to rustle, and Richard stiffened and held himself in readiness for a potentially dangerous encounter.

Not hearing the man calling out to her, Aleita just kept walking down the dark deserted street. She wasn't in her right mind, who would be after such experience. She continued down the road not truly aware of what she was doing.
Suddenly there was a gust of wind, the tree branches bent by it's force, leaves ripped from their stems and rode upon the winds gust before slowly floating to the ground. In the distance the low rumble of thunder echoed, a storm was obviously brewing.
