Photomanipulation...

Holy crap Ill. I love the very first one and the fourth one. ~Sits in wonder at your abilities as a graphic artist. And notes that she had to post this before she could even click through the following pages to see if there were anymore pics.~

Thanks. And...er....the first and fourth on the first page or the first and third on the second page? If you ever want me to try and do a character design for you, let me know. I could use the practice. I'm a self-taught photoshop junkie, hence the sigs made for me, Marco, Scorn and Garagauth or whatever his name is, and all these manips. I post at least once a day at my DA account.

This is in no way my downing your work, but when I look at the Libra pic instead of scales I see sunglasses.

Yeah...I know. The bad thing about the Libra pic is that it was hard to find good stock used to create the scales. The girl was high quality stock made by a stock artists specifically for photo manipulation. The scales I found were on stock site, and while being decent quality, weren't the best in the world. In addition to all of that, I'm just learning new techniques on how to make the background image fit better with the picture and that's something I didn't know when I made the Libra pic.

And, after that longwinded explaination, I don't think you're downing my work. Critiques are what I need in order to grow. Besides, I'm self-taught in photoshop and if I don't know what doesn't look right to someone else, I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I totally understand Ill. I've done it this way myself. My program is ancient and can't to ALOT of what most people use. I do it for myself and no one else, but I like to show what I have made so perhaps others Could give me advice.
It was actually SJ that really did help me when I started to post of my stuff (ty SJ). He pissed me off royally, but when we talked afterward he explained some stuff and I took his advice.
Keep fiddling Illogical, it's the only way you'll learn more things.
Oh, and my last bit of advice......don't try an do what others do, create your own style :)

Keep sharing..............

Well, at this point, I'm using my own technique. Most graphic artists use the mask and quick mask tool to erase backgrounds, but, I've found that I prefer to use the magnetic lasso tool to trace the edges and then I go back in for detailing with a small soft brush in masking mode to erase parts I missed with the lasso or to add stuff back in that I accidentally erased.

I tried following a few tutorials, but all they did was confuse me like crazy, so, right now, I take a mixture of what I learned in tutorials and add my own blending options, color balance and curves layers and adjustment layers and brushes to create digital artwork. I think my main problem is that I'm overly critical of my own work and always have been. Hence, I only have one print submitted to DA at the moment. I have one more that I'd like to submit, but I need to get a model release first, so, blah blah blah.

I never realized that making digital artwork for profit was such a hassle. But, then, because I use the same models fairly often and simply change their features or their hair to give them a different look, once I get the primary releases filled out it shouldn't be all that difficult.

And, if anyone feels the urge to support a starving artist, visit my DA account and buy a mug or something. Hehe.

Edit: Silly me. I started rambling about my technique and forgot to show you guys my most recent manip. It's based on snow white. Nieve Blanco. In spanish, it means "Snow White." heh. Anyway, stock credit at my DA account and because I haven't posted the link in a while: http://perilous-dreamer.deviantart.com And for the record, if you do visit my account to see the larger version, be sure to full view my artwork. You miss fine details in the small version.

(Once upon a time in mid winter, when the snowflakes were falling like feathers from heaven, a beautiful queen sat sewing at her window, which had a frame of black ebony wood. As she sewed, she looked up at the snow and pricked her finger with her needle. Three drops of blood fell into the snow. The red on the white looked so beautiful, that she thought, "If only I had a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as this frame." Soon afterward she had a little daughter that was as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as ebony wood...)

If anyone here plays any dark characters and needs a picture, feel free to use this one, just let me know. I also have it in a larger size, but, I would have to send you the file through e-mail as I'm no longer posting really large images online cause people have a tendency to use them without giving me credit for making them. This is probably only my second attempt at making a "dark" manipulation, but, I really like the way this one turned out. Stock credit at http://perilous-dreamer.deviantart.com/gallery

Treiya Darklor

I liked the old image of Treiya that I had, but, it was never really what I pictured her as. So, here is an image of Treiya that I photomanipulated today. Smaller versions are in my siggy and being used as my avatar. Since I am currently using this image as Treiya, I would appreciate it if no one else used it for RP. Thanks.
