Rain

The Flame Shimatori
Less and less. As time went on, less people became to be around. One by one they each disappear. Some by the sword, returning to the earth. Others, deciding to forget where they came from by abandoning their homeland. I, I decided to stay. Others stayed too. Why? Who knows. Some stayed solely for pride and honor. Others, to be "cool" and do what the "cool" people are doing. And then there are some that did only to other a person or a group of people...

"Rain...? Rain?! Where are you?!" I sighed knowing it could only be one person calling for me like that. Her high pitched tone got closer and closer to where I was located. I was in an open field, laying calm and collected, watching the clouds roll on by. I closed my eyes as though to drift away, and also to drown out the disturbance of my peace. "I know you're here. You're always here when you want to be alone." She said, bellowing. I could tell she wasn't far. Any minute now she'll be right on top of me, or at least stumble over me, over estimating where she had thought I was. "And yet you still came, Akarui. What do you want?" My eyes slowly opened waiting to see her silver hair dangling above me, with her piercing blue hues, glaring at me with disappointment. I didn't see her. She must have stopped as soon as she heard me. "For your information, I was told to summon you." She snapped. "Oh yeah? What for?" I replied, promptly. "I'm not sure. All I know is they wanted you, Enzo, Mordy, Crenshaw, and Robby. Pretty sure there were others, but I my only objective was to bring you with me there." She sighed and turned away from where I was located. "Look, I don't know why or even who wanted you, but I know it is important. It has everyone in a stir. It's in the normal location. You're familiar with it. It's in Xion. You know, the city you're from..." That was all she said. She was gone in seconds. "I see...Hmm." I sat up, pushing my knees up to rest my arms on them. The wind made me swivel my ears abit at it's direction. My tail slowly wagged back and forth. Something was up and it's got everyone in a question. "Looks like I'm on my way back home..."

The travel wasn't bad. I was a little winded. Traveling on foot isn't like it use to be. I've grown old. It takes me a little more effort now, but not to the point that I'm about to pass out. The city of Xion. Oh a place that holds such memories for me. This is where my mother gave birth to me before she passed. This was also the place where my renowned father named and claimed as his own. Funny, everyone knows so much about him, yet I know nothing. I frowned at the thoughts of not knowing my father due to his inability to care for me. I shrugged, quickly dismissing them. I wasn't here to bring up old memories. There was a task that needed to be done. Not much has changed about the city. The buildings still looked as though they were ruined. Some moss grew on quite a few of them. The roads were all cobblestone still. The population was about the same as well. Kids running around, playing with one another. Adults bartering and gossiping about the latest thing. I tucked my hands in my pockets and made my way to the city hall, which I assumed where this meeting would take place. As I walked I was greeted by a few people I remember as a child. One in particular stopped me by flinging her arms around me, hugging me tight. "Oh my! You came back! It's sooo good to see you." Her voice was so soothing. Her brown hair draped over my face as she nuzzled into my neck. I instinctively hugged her back sighing. "It is good to see you too, Jess, my best friend." She said nothing. Only gripped me tighter, not wanting to let go. "I'm actually here because of some thing that Akarui mentioned. You wouldn't by chance know what it is about, would you?" I felt her grip loosen then she slowly pulled away. Her green eyes, looked deep into my silver ones. I saw concern and worry in hers. She took a couple steps back and sighed, folding her arms over her chest. "Well...I don't know much about it. All I know is that it's something called Enthusia. A world of lost dreams." She took a step towards me, unfolding her arms and placing her right hand on my chest. "I guess they want you to go and check it out. If they do, promise me you'll be safe and return home? You and I...we..." She paused then shook her head. "You better get going..." She smiled and hugged me again. "Take care of yourself." I nodded as I watched her walk away. Maybe I shouldn't have left for so long...I thought. I exhaled sharply, feeling disappointed in myself for neglecting a friend. "Enthusia, huh? Let's see what this is all about."

In the city hall there were all sorts of people. Some new, some old, and some I wish I didn't see again but here they were. "Oh hey Rain. So good to see you, Brother." "Likewise, Kai..." I kept it short and sweet. Kai, my oldest brother, knew full and well that I didn't like him. He single handly destroyed my family by killing my unborn child and alienating my wife, who I have never heard from since the situation. I can only guess that he uses her just like he uses his "mate" Mew. I offered a smile and found a nice spot to lean against. I saw an older man standing at the front, behind the podium. His eyes traced over the crowd as to figure out who was missing. The room was so full and I doubt he knew everyone by name. "Rain Shimatori... You're late." He called out, making everyone look back at me. With all eyes on me, I shrugged then closed my eyes slowly. "Like it matters that I showed up or not..." He remarked, opening my eyes to give him a gaze. "It does infact..." He snapped in repliance. "Because you are going to be the representative for this mission." "Wait wait wait...why me and what mission? As you can see there's another Shimatori here. I'm sure he thinks he is better qualified for the task than myself." "It was his idea to send you..." "Hmph..." I didn't bother to inquire more about why he did. "So what is this mission you are wanting to us to go on. Awfully lot of people to send on this. Must be important." "As a matter of fact it is. I was waiting for you to show up so I can explain what the mission and situation is." My ears perked with interest. "Well go on sir. I am all ears..."

"Enthusia is the name of the place where you all will be going. It is known by those who have been or have been told about it, as the realm of lost dreams. Mainly because of it unimaginable terrain and atmosphere. To add more to this, it is here, on earth. Much like how some of us can access astral planes, ethereal planes, and others fields beyond the veil, this is one too. Souly created by people's deepest, darkest, desires. I know some of you are all thinking that this place would be great and all, but it's not. It's filled with evil. Pure evil. Using any means neccessary to trap you there and devour your souls. The objective is to either destroy the core of the realm or rid it of it's evil prescence. You live in a week. Let me tell you that, this is an optional mission. However, you would be look upon as a coward.” He nodded with his statement and walked off, leaving the group to talk amongst themselves whether they should stay or go.
